Hello fellow patrons,

It's prom time & Dakrya creeping in yet again! This show was supposed to be about Vampires why is my heart forever being damaged! Haha. The 'Class Protector' was such a lovely gesture & made me smile so much, I feel Buffy needed that & seeing Giles being the proud father warmed my heart as always. Bangel is no more, I figured this would happen tbh, still sad to watch. SMG does those emotional scenes so well damnit!

One of the very few episodes with a happy ending! Yeah, Joyce may have done the right thing but not telling her daughter about it, doing it behind her back, wasn’t. I still like Joyce, though.

This episode affects me so much I had to take a couple of minutes' break from rewatching it just now. Twice. It's just so full of youthful hope and happiness and anxiety and poignancy. PS Shout out to Telford from someone who visited Shrewsbury last month.

I love Anya! Too bad you got spoiled on it, but seeing it happen will still be great. And she is an Ex-demon. She used to be a revenge demon and granted wishes for scorned women, but after Wish!Giles destroyed her amulet she became stuck in her current form and she is now basically just a human teenager.

I don't normally tear up at the emotional bits. But simultaneously watching the emotional bits and you tearing up makes it very difficult! 🙂 Buffy's maths is a bit off. Angel became a vampire in 1753 and this is set in 1999. Plus he seemed to be an adult at the time. He's well over 243, making their relationship even more iffy! This is deliberate by the writers as it makes the enjoyment of Bangel a bit of guilty pleasure, and we all know the marketability of a guilty pleasure!

I blame Buffys mum she wouldn't have said anything they could have worked life aging up on their own still loving together...age is just numbers people you love someone then love them my wife was 20 years different from me and we have a happy life with three beautiful children don't let age or others or the world blind you with they're idea that age difference is wrong. Joyce you're the selfish one because you're scared of being alone without Buffy. I know more people closet age that ended our have major problems than people with age difference neither is wrong but it shows a small example just because your same age won't mean you'll stay together than two people who are in big age difference.just saying

I read somewhere that this was Sarah Michelle Gellar's favourite episode of Buffy. I'm not surprised, it's so wholesome! Sunnydale really does appreciate her! Definitely didn't cry when i first watched this... honest! Also i think back in the Dopplegangland episode Anya mentions she is 1120 years old. Suddenly Angel doesnt seem that old :D

super emotion episode this so sad angel and buffys relationship was always a doomed one but its so sad they broke up as they were perfect for each other apart from angel being a vampire that is :) one more episode to go can you believe it almost 3 seasons down its crazy but also super close to the start of angel :) so lovely to see the ball of cuteness that is salem we missed the kittie cat overall another wonderful reaction thionk ive eaten too many snacks though haha cheers as always dak

2026-09-10 16:00 Yes (I don't think this I'd spoiling at this point) but Angel the series is set at the same time as buffy season 4. To watch it in chronological order watch season 4 ep 1 of buffy then season 1 ep 1 of Angel and keep alternating. I would say you could watch them separate but their are quite a few crossover 2 part episodes that don't make sense otherwise

Alternating 1:1 isn´t ideal tbh. There is a guide online that most reactors use when they start season 4/Angel. Sometimes you watch 2-3 episodes of one show before going back to the other.

It's not just the age difference. Angel can't have children, and if they stay together Buffy will eventually grow old, age and die while he remains youthful, but never able to life a live outside the shadows. That's what his dream meant - wanting her to live a full life.

I really think it adds to the moment that it was Jonathan who gave Buffy the award there, considering the events of Earshot. To me though, I can only think of one moment that was funnier than Giles admonishing Wesley and telling he had the emotional maturity of a blueberry scone, but that gets into spoiler territory so I won’t say 😂

Wow Dakara, playing a risky game going to a Con with Buffy people there lmao but probably super fun. This episode is a cryer for me... just, after years of everyone in the town sweeping all the evil under the rug, they actually all came together to say "fuck that, Buffy deserves credit". That's just... wonderful.

Anya is an Ex Demon so human now. She got trapped as a human when Cordelia wish episode went wrong so she’s now stuck as a teenage human. Oh and great reaction :)

this episode has everything. Sarah Michelle plays emotional scenes soo well. You can just feel it in your heart when she's upset. Angel. the mayor, Buffy's mom, they are all right, but Buffy and Angel will forever be my ship. I think they did do their relationship extremely well, though one can't help but wish :p. The class protector and giles make the episode in a way for me. In the moment where she feels alone in a way, where everything seems to be going wrong, the class recognizes her, which i think she really needed. The other is when Giles finds out about Angel leaving and says exactly the right thing. He really is her surrogate father, and in the case where her mother is kind of against her and angel, giles is the suportive one here that gets how she feels. Xander and Cordy get a form of closure here. It was a bit of a reality check for Xander finding out about what happened to Cordelia. I'm like giles when it comes to Wesley and Cordy. Blueberry scone indeed. Anya is human now as she's lost her demon powers. As for her age well.. she was talking about inflicting vengeance during hte black plague so.....

oh gosh, I hadn't watched this one in years and I'd forgotten details. Jonathan's speech hit me and I started ugly crying until the end. Fun times.
