Hello everyone,

Parker is back & I am triggered! I warn you that there is a rant at the end of this reaction haha. I hope we all agree that Parker is troll, that. is. all. Moving on, this ep had me laughing, shouting & sweating! Willow being with Parker made me uncomfy because I wanna protect Willow with everything I have! She smashed it though! I love her even more if that's possible?? Hate this vibe between Oz & the singer!!! Haaaaate it. I'm scared but bring on the next one!

Have a lovely week everyone! Thank you for the constant love & support, you're all amazing!

Much love & stay safe out there!

Dakara x

Buffy The Vampire Slayer Reaction 4X05-1.mp4

Comments

I just subbed and have been binging your reactions, so I'm watching this a year after you posted it. But I just wanted to chime in and say that my favorite part of this episode is the statement being made about Buffy. That no matter her state of mind, her default setting is protector. Her instinct is to save people, no matter what. And I love that. So excited to watch more of your reactions, Dakara! Finding you has been a gold mine!

DakaraJayne

I appreciate you watching my content and even more so sharing your thoughts on the episodes. This reaction may be an older one of mine but your view and comment is a new one and I had a big smile reading it so thank you 💜

Darrell Palmer

Really looking forward to watching this episode. Buffy hitting Parker with a big stick just makes me feel good every time.

Ed Green

I love that the bar Xander is at randomly has a Welsh flag hung up behind it.

Dave Ford

If there's one episode of Buffy that starkly shows the difference in attitude between the UK and US toward booze, it's probably this episode. Just a basically odd premise. Beer inherently isn't bad, to me it's lovely, and to others it isn't. But 'bad'? Pah!

Dave Ford

And, yes, you heard right - they named her after a foot-wart.

Merkavar

anyone else see the micpack/walkie talkie on xanders belt

Neil Silverman

Oh man, your reactions to Parker in this episode are great. Also, and without getting into spoilers, whatever may or may not happen with Oz - he's definitely no Parker. I think you already know that. :-)

Steve Quast

Not a favorite of mine, but Parker does get hit over the head twice, so call it an up side.

I don't think I've seen a reactor appear to find this episode quite so cathartic - you seemed to have a good old enjoyable rant there!

DakaraJayne

so sorry about that, must have watched on a sensitive day haha

DakaraJayne

definitely a win for the Parker smacks ha

DakaraJayne

I do know that! Scared of the writers letting me down haha. Thanks for watching Neil :)

Gau Thier

This is generally regarded as one of the worst Buffyverse episodes (not without good moments, though). The next ones are so, so much better. Looking forward to it!

Collinson

In the words of the Buffyverse Genius Willow, Parker is a poop head.

Donald Mellen

No worries! It was quite enjoyable.

Bart Aansorgh

This is an episode where i woulnd't say what a great episode, cause its a bit gimicky really. But it sure is hella fun. A fun way to handle the social ways of modern people, and douchebags like Parker. Really I wish I couldn punch that bastard. Buffy clubbing him is definitely a highlight of the episode. Willow was brilliant handling Parker too. The Oz situation is deff strange. Did u notice that singer is the same girl he walked past a couple episodes and turned around as if he recognized her?

Jim Greer

This episode is my least favourite of the entire series . I only watched it again to see your reaction , which didn't disappoint . The best bit was Buffy throwing the fire extinguisher in the fire .

Chris Mick

This episode is basically what can be witnessed from the "sober side" of the bar throughout the night. Hopefully always choosing to intervene before the fire.

I think that this is probably my second less favourite episode of the season, due manly to pacing issues, and yet I still find it enjoyable to rewatch. This should say something on how much I enjoy this season that I count as one of the three best of the entire series, together with the first and second season. They brought back a lot of the humor of the first season, they finally drop that ugly and distracting super heavy make up of season two and three and also the wardrobe, especially for Buffy, is again stylish and more in line with the times on the contrary of season three where seemed often to me as some eglish girl from the fifties, always with that stupid little purses. Even the mood feels different, I'm not talking about the tone of stories but the actual mood of the cast, it feels to me that they recovered the initial enthusiasm and energy. The main thing that I appreciate this season for is, no doubt, the writing of the characters and the relationships between them. I'm not saying that it's a prefect season, none are, but I always really enjoy to rewatch it again and again. Almost certainly it had the highest budget of the entire series and you can clearly see it. I hope you really enjoy this season because, and this is just me personally of course, I think that with season four, in some ways, ends the golden age of the show. If you want to avoid spoilers but you are interest in the economic situation behind the scenes that inevitably affected the production of the show, check out the financial situtation of Warner Bros television network, which produced the first five seasons, and of United Paramount Network, which produced the last two, in the early twenty-first century. Spoiler alert ... it wasn't good.

DakaraJayne

Yes plz intervene earlier rather than later haha. Or maybe just cool off the warlock spells?

Ian

daks hatred for parker is hilarious :)

Joseph Johnson

I know a lot of people don't like this episode or at least find it subpar compared to the rest of the season, which is fair, it is. Personally I put this episode in my top 5 for the this season because cavewoman Buffy is just so damn adorable. Part of the reason this episode was made was to cash in on some of that government tax writeoffs for having a PSA episode on substance abuse which is why it seems a bit rushed but that scene of Parker trying to apologize to Buffy then getting clubbed in the head was priceless. The more I think about it, Parker isn't a big bad, isn't some over arching villain or powerful henchman but he still makes the top 5 of most hated characters on this show for most of its fans.

Mitch M

The issue for me w/ Parker isn’t casual sex vs relationship sex, though the show tends to let him run with that perspective. The issue is manipulation and misleading versus plain speaking And consent. He doesn’t say “I just want one night” because he knows Buffy wouldn’t have agreed, and he presents it like taking the time to clarify “steals the fire,” but what he actually means is that honesty means he doesn’t get what he wants. Parker is a liar and a user, and as much as I love Willow confronting him, I wish she pushed a little harder. All of the Parker BS aside, this episode manages to have enough funny moments (Buffy almost walking into a car, Xander’s terrible license) to almost make up for the sheer silliness of the premise.

PaulC

The stuff about beer turning blokes into cavemen is perhaps a bit silly (and not very subtle either), but it's fun seeing Willow put Parker in his place, and there's some important groundwork beng laid for the next ep with Oz and Veruca.
