Ya, I had the same thought. If there plan is to keep rebooting people until they get to the good place, what is the purpose of the Bad Place then? I get good people dont want to see others in the Bad Place, but there has to be consequences for actions. And like some people like pedos or killers or cannibals, shouldnt be in the Good Place...

In the new system, there is no actual Bad Place. Being infinitely stuck taking the test, facing their own moral shortcomings, is the new “Bad Place”, just like Michael's original neighborhood was designed to torture them but also worked (accidentally at the time) to improve them. That is what is great about this new system. Even the worst people could take all eternity to improve and still get to the Good Place because they would have infinite chances to get better.

So like Lucas said, the bad place is no more. Humans just now take the rest over and over until they qualify for the good place. Some may never make it and may spend eternity taking the test but everyone gets the opportunity. I am so excited to see you react to the final three episodes. There some great surprises (and guest appearances) coming your way, and make sure you have a box of tissues close by from here on out. BTW, The West Wing, as mentioned in David’s comment that you read out this episode is a truly brilliant and phenomenal show, so incredibly well written and acted. Jo one ever reacts to it despite it being a very popular show. It would be a great one to put on your pilot list. As would Schitt’s Creek which I will always champion.

Yeah all they need to do is ace the test, and they will have an eternity to take the test over and over again, so even after 1 billion years, they could still get out of the new bad place if they improve enough. Shawn and the other demons will still get the chance to psychologically torture humans which is a more complex form of torture than penis flatners.

Oh hello Chidi. So nice to meet you. wow, I just had a great big smile on my face this entire episode. These guys together.....amazing. There are very few shows that have a cast that just gels so well. Our six friends of course, but every supporting character in this show is just perfect also. Geez, this is starting to feel like the end, isn't it? I'm getting sad. What an amazing ride this has been. Very much looking forward to these next episodes. Enjoy. x

Which means that John Milton's quote from Paradise Lost, 'Long is the way and hard that out of Hell leads up to light', is now how the entire afterlife will work: people will get to Heaven by using their time in Hell to work on themselves. Hell will function essentially as an indefinite intervention by way of psychological experiment. A therapy session, if you will. Not too unlike the ending of a different show, except that the ultimate destination will be controlled by the therapists instead of the patients. Like a prison system where you're released if you deserve it, as opposed to one where the gates are locked from the inside.
