Let's be honest, being able to fight blind is some ninja stuff most have guys have wished they could do XD

The fathers never have any say in decisions about a child, the woman has complete and absolute control of the decisions when it comes to keeping/not keeping a child while pregnant, and after birth the father (If he didn't even want a child) has no say whatsoever about supporting the child no matter his circumstances. This is just how it works. That's the perk women get for being the ones to carry the babies inside them for 9 months. A womans right to decide over her own body, and the fact that babies grow inside them, also leads to them haveing all the power when it comes to children. A man can't say "I don't want a child, I won't have anything to do with it", as he will be forced to at the bare minimum pay child support for 18 years. BUT, a woman CAN and WILL some times say "No, i don't want a child yet, im not ready" And then she can (against the mans wishes, if he DOES want one) abort it, not even letting the man keep the child and then the woman pay child support (which is the same that happens if it's the man that doesn't want it..). That last question about Renard/his brother not having something to say about their baby with Adalind should be obvious, of course they have nothing they can say, because they're the man and can't decide anything about it.

Situations like the ones you speak of are never black and white or simple. It also differs dependant on location, culture/religion & circumstances in general. This is a TV show so I shall await and see where the writers take it.

The actor who plays the fly wesen is actually a New Zealander. I think he's trying to put a bit of a South African accent on, but you can hear the New Zealander slip through every now and then. Although it's funny that to my ears I also questioned whether he may have had a specific type of Australian accent that is often found in South Australia (my birth city, apparently we sometimes sound like a posh New Zealander trying to do a South African accent LOL)

Claire Eyles

In terms of Renard, in episode 8 we see Adalind talking to his brother Eric, and Eric talks about Renard's history, explaining how his Father (the King) had an affair with a Hexenbiest. That's the first time we find out that Renard is half Royal, Half Wesen, although it's not fully confirmed until now and it's also not confirmed until this episode that technically he's a Zauberbiest (male form of a Hexenbiest).

Sure, most nuances will differ, but i have yet to see a place where the woman has to carry the child to term so that the father can have the baby in cases where the mother doesn't want the baby. But when it's the other way around, and the mother wants it but the father doesn't, you'd best believe that baby is going to be born and the father forced to raise it along with her or if the parents aren't together, pay for the child for 18years regardles of what he wants OR even feels ready for. The act of making a baby takes both parents, not just one. The show is set in the states, and it's pretty well known that the mother holds all the power in decision making when it comes to pregnancy and infants, which is why that last question regarding Adalinds' baby was soo baffling to me. It just feels like that question highlights how little people know/care about fathers rights in the states.

Merkavar

oh this episode. not a fan of the eye stuff

Merkavar

@mikki_frost " i have yet to see a place where the woman has to carry the child to term so that the father can have the baby in cases where the mother doesn't want the baby." are you sure about that? abortion is illegal in many US states and many countries. Or did you specifically mean forced because the father wants the baby, and being forced because it is illegal isn't the same?

Mikki_Frost

@Merkavar | Not saying a woman SHOULD be forced to carry all the way to term, so the father can have the baby while she leaves and does her own thing. Im just pointing out how massive of an advantage a woman has in these situations. If a woman wants the child, while the father never wanted it, that dude is FORCED to have a child of his own blood be born and later FORCED to either be in the babys life and help raise it, OR pay for the child for years and years. He has NO way of getting out of that situation AT ALL. The woman can get out of having to give birth and have a kid, the man HAS ABSOLUTELY NO WAY of stopping the plethora of consecuences that follow such a thing. Which is the main problem, nobody is saying a woman SHOULD be forced to carry to term if only the man wants the baby, but it can easily come across that way when the difference in power between the two parts are this extreme. (Here's a very real example that happened to one of my friends to illustrate why this is a biiig issue: Woman is on the pill, and they used a condom that ripped without them noticing, and since the pill isn't 100% effective you now have a child on the way, it was a one night stand. now the mans life is forever changed and depending on his financial situation also ruined should the woman decide to keep it, because she WILL get child support from the man)

The Mad Titan

He could spray Nick with the parasite because the tears were only to be eaten. He doesn't need them to infect people. The parasites are just causing more pain, and tears, on top of the blindness. At least that's the way I understood it. Not my favorite episode but I thought the same thing as you, at least he has kinda these new power upgrades. He's been getting those a fww times lately since the zombie episodes when he seemed dead.

DakaraJayne

Saaame, the eye thing weirded me out haha

DakaraJayne

Ahhh I see. The lessons/perks of these difficult experiences is the benefit I think for sure.

DM DC

Don't be so hard on yourself Dakara. Because Renard is only half hexenbiest it's easy to overlook, especially since his features are not as pronounced as a true hexenbiest. I don't believe they had ever actually said what Renard was, they've just shown his form. It isn't until this episode that I believe they say the word zauberbiest. Great reaction! Always love your reactions to this show.

That might not always be so cut & dry. My niece’s bio dad didn’t pay child support for the first two years because either my sister didn’t name him has father on birth certificate or she put her ex husband as the father. My sister still goes by her married name so my niece has her stepdad’s name thank god. Her bio dad wanted visitation rights when my niece was two so they went to court, it was proved he is her bio father, & in order to get visitation rights he not only had to start paying child support but back support for the last two years

fuck, i forgot this episode was in this season, i thought it was season 3! i fucking love this one, it's one of my favorites!
