Conventions, Illness, and (most of a) New Video - GBA e-Reader Return! (Patreon)

Hello Skelefriends!

I’ve been updating a lot in discord but haven’t made one here in a bit! Firstly, in April I went to the Midwest Gaming Classic to show Faceball 16-Player again. My third trip in a row, it’s always a blast! While I was there, I was also able to get an interview with a GBA e-Reader homebrew dev, Sarah Parker, who made the great game Dizzy Sheep Disaster EX. A game that will be reviewed in the attached video because...

…Secondly, the GBA e-Reader video has grown into a much larger project! It’ll now have reviews all 8 new home brew games, interviews with both devs responsible, plus updates on further hacking on the e-Reader since I properly covered it last! I was hoping to have a WIP cut to you last week but I was way, way not ready to show it.

And thirdly, on top of everything else, I caught a terrible cold, possible Covid while at MGC (a few friends came back with Covid, I haven’t tested myself but I’ve been trying to remember masking when I go out). I got back from my trip and immediately felt like crap. Limited energy, nagging cough, and so much gunk in my sinuses. But I didn’t lose my sense of taste? Either way, I was barely able to get anything done those last few days of April, and I’ve had lingering plague with me all of this week as well.

But I was able to get a bunch of work on the video finished! Thankfully I shot the live stuff and recorded the VO before my trip. The cut posted has basically the first half to two-thirds of the video completed. The interview with Matt of Retro Dot Cards will be shortened for the public version, but I intend to have the Patreon cut be a longer cut with extended interviews. All that’s left is to review Sarah’s two games and then edit her interview. It’s fewer games and her interview ended up being shorter, so it’s not as much. Still, her interview will be longer for Patreon.

And in all of this madness, I’ve had to postpone the UDUG stream. I was excited to finally watch the infamous Konami E3 Conference, but I’ve not had much of a voice or the energy for a full stream. But I think I’ll be good for it next week, we’ll have a stream in the discord and the archive will be posted here.

So despite still being sick, I had a mostly pretty productive week. I’m gonna chill out now, hope you enjoy your weekend, and enjoy the finished portion of the video! Let me know what you think and definitely let me know if you catch any mistakes!
