Hi everyone,

Wow, can't believe we managed to get this one done before PAX West weekend! If you're in the area, be sure to come to our panel on Friday at 11am in the Sasquatch theater! ;)

In case you haven't been following this story, Nintendo sued the owners of LoveROMs and LoveRetro for over a hundred million dollars in July, one of the largest lawsuits of its kind. Its announcement caused a chilling effect, prompting Emuparadise, one of the longest running ROM websites, to voluntarily shut down.

Here's the rub: ROM piracy plays an important role in preserving video game history and building a retro audience. The conversation sparked by Emuparadise's closure made me want to dig down and find out how many games are already lost to time.

This is what I came up with. Hope you enjoy the video!

P.S. Our next video is likely going to be about the Nintendo E-reader! We've got the outline done and are hoping to get the script done by the end of next week (before Derek leaves for RetroWorld Expo).

Nintendo’s done it again! This time it's a rampage against legally dubious ROM sites – causing beloved ROM site Emuparadise to remove all of its games. In this video we take a deep dive into the implications of ROM sites shutting down for the games industry as a whole, games preservation, and the games that are already lost. #stopskeletons #emuparadise #gamehistory ☠ Subscribe! ☠ ► go.stopskeletons.com/subscribe ☠Support us on Patreon! ► http://bit.ly/SSFFpatreon ☠Credits ☠ Written by Derek Alexander & Grace Kramer Shot by Grace Kramer Edited by Derek Alexander 💪Get that look! ✨► https://www.fangamer.com/products/stop-skeletons-from-fighting-shirt Music by ☠► hellstar.plus - https://soundcloud.com/hellstar-plus Artwork and Bumper by the always incredible Clockwork Pixel ☠► http://bit.ly/ClockworkPixel ☠ More? ☠ Secrets of the N64 Expansion Pak ► https://youtu.be/n17SDFZSu_o Explained: Castlevania vs Curse of the Moon ► https://youtu.be/EKIAI0iG9ZI Street Fighter Gameboy Ports ► https://youtu.be/56EzX4Mbg34 The Day One Patch and No Man's Sky Next ► https://youtu.be/O4zhOpCrq3s Doom Console Ports #2 (Jaguar/3DO/Saturn) ► https://youtu.be/XsKLvzNT7E0
