Austin's Question (via Kevin Hilt)...

If NASA was putting another golden art-filled record into space, and you were in charge of adding one video game to it, what game would you choose and why?

Answer down below in the comments and I'll read the best answers on the next Check-In.

\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\

Hello everybody. On this episode of the check-in we'll be playing some Wii Sports Club. Sorry this took so long-- these PATREON CHECK-INs can be weirdly annoying to edit together because of all the title cards, and my computer is from 2013 so it's getting a little long in the tooth and it doesn't like titles. But here it is. A big thank you to all our new Patrons since the last episode, and if I did NOT read your name it just means you became a Patron in between when I filmed this and when I'm posting it.

Not a ton of channel news going on. I'm still plugging away to ensure you get a video every Monday at least, and you may get a bonus video this week because I want to get the "Odd and Unremarkable places in Majora's Mask" done asap. I also filmed a bunch of cool content for Mario Kart Wii and I was seriously surprised and impressed with some of the weird things we found. Also upcoming will be some Spyro stuff with any luck.

If you have any questions or comments you want me to read, post em down below, and again, thank you all so much.

A Good Duck

my question for you is who was the first video game character that you kiiiiinda had at least a little bit of a crush on

Kevin Hilt

Do you miss anything about Minnesota winters, or do you completely prefer the warmer climate?

TheFrickinG

Where in a video game would you most like to sleep? Like set up a tent there and just spend the night. My blast from the past moment would be that time you encountered a giant zombie in radiation island. I don't know if I've ever seen you so animated. I'll try to find that moment and link it in this comment. edit: Nice. I found it pretty quickly. It's at 1:19:47 of part 3.

For your question: the way the question's phrased it sounds like the console wouldn't be included so if the aliens can't play the game I'd vote we send Secret of Mana into space, simply because the box art is gorgeous and full of life :D

Jonas Pedersen

Question for Austin; If you could make any video game you want, what would its genre be? Go wild

Aion

Austin's question answer: if you're looking for something to give aliens the most amount of information about humanity as possible, maybe something made for the purpose of education would be smart. Therefore, we should give the aliens a copy of Mario is Missing. Listener question: with the Kenobi series coming up soon, I'm wondering this: what is your favorite non-video game piece of Star Wars media? As for the Blast from the Past, I think you should go with TheFrickinG's suggestion. That moment is definitely in the Any Austin hall of fame, as far as I'm concerned.

One of my favorite things virtual reality enables is the ability to explore a familiar space (e.g. a video game area) in a completely eye-opening way. If you had to spend an entire day in a video game, where you could tour all of its areas freely, which game's world has your pick? Would it be Ocarina of Time's forests, lakes, and volcanoes? The castle and painting worlds of Mario 64? Or something else?

wyatt

listener question : has the drowning video stayed monetized ? lol

gray

my choice is outer wilds. it has beautiful ideas about humanity & sending a game about aliens to aliens would be funny. unfortunately I doubt a different form of life would be able to play a first person game with complex mechanics, so it's probably a bad call. maybe Tetris is better, but it's definitely more boring

TIN Tevlev

Space Invaders, they're gonna love it, such a classic

Do you think the start of your youtube career focusing mostly on glitches has helped you to be able to find/remember the more hidden or forgotten about parts of games? Glitches often require you to do something you normally wouldn't in order to execute it, which is similar to looking at parts of the worlds that no one really thought would be paid much attention to.

Memoria Matters

not the emo kids under the bridge dance 💀

Aethermorn

Ocarina of time, if for no other reason than it made a bunch of people I know (including me) realize I’m not straight. Gotta help the aliens realize stuff about themselves

Benckertz

Listener question, what do you think of Pokemon Nuzlockes?

Nania Unruh

i would choose the sims 2 (bc its my fave in the series) and so that if the aliens come and contact us they'll speak simlish

Ethan Kaskamin

Answer to your question: Mario Kart 64, and one day we’ll compete with aliens. Question for you, if you were to move for a year where would you go and what would you look forward to most?

Matt Perez

Question for you, when was the last time you threw up and what was the cause. Are you scared of throwing up; I used to be petrified of throwing up and did everything to avoid it but now that I’m older it’s sort of a been there done that type of deal. I almost always expect it after a night of drinking.

Matt Perez

Another question, where do you go and get your glasses? I like your frames and I sat on mine yesterday

Cadmiyum

just joined here, question: do you have a bandcamp? Love the tunes. Keep up the amazing creative work dude

Kyle

I'm a new Patron but I was want to hear you discuss the obvious Steve Brule/Tim & Eric influence on your content. It's one of my favorite flavors of humor and it seemed to have especially influenced your earlier videos.
