What this is is mostly obvious, but it's sort of the fetus that I am incubating in my non-uterus body, which is kind of sexual appropriation in a way, but I've already said it so we can't take it back. This is:

1) not something to get attached too. Much of it will still change for episode 1.

2) Not a full episode-- it ends halfway through.

3) A concrete something for me to watch and look at for what works and what doesn't, so that when I make a public episode 1 I only use the stuff that works.

4) Mostly very rough and forced and technically unfinished.

5) not the actual theme song.

If you want to, I would really love to hear your comments about what you like or don't like. You people, who give me money, I really value your opinion and do generally want to please you. So please, please me, and tell me what pleases you.

I'll fire up the popcorn machine and watch this before bed tonight. Late night viewing! Very excited to watch your new endeavour.

Feels like a much more fleshed out Random Steam Game Fun, which I thought ended too soon, so it's great to see! If this makes it only halfway through the full episode I would be rather pleased, your recent stuff, while enjoyable, I find to be over quite quickly which can be a bummer. As Patrick stated, the facts keep the show moving and give it a nice dynamic with playing portions mixed with some history on the game, and considering this is VC and these games are getting old, I find that to be a big draw. Teaching others a little about the history of the game is novel and gives much more validity to these games that certain games like Secret of the Magic Crystal back from RSGF lacked. It was hilarious seeing you play that game, no doubt, but it's good to get more than just laughs out of your videos. In terms of menus and music it has that "Austin" feel which became a big part of Eggbusters as the show progressed, which will hopefully make this new show feel familiar to returning viewers. Overall, I look forward to seeing where this goes.

I like it! Like Random Steam Game Fun except you know the games won't suck THAT much. I hope my interpretations of your intentions aren't too wrong here: I liked doing the camera on you instead of the game as a kind of anti-let's play. I do wish I could have seen the stage 6 "hard mode" gameplay just to see how/if it's different. (Although if there's more episode maybe it comes up after what we've seen). Finally, and clearly most importantly, I think door closed. Or door open and something's visible through it. Or whatever since you already recorded it and it's still fine. I hope my hard stance on door positioning is helpful. Looking forward to the new series!

I really, really enjoyed it. Is it wrong that the best part of your shows is when you are the most angry and frustrated? Seeing it all get worse and worse with just how hard the first track was awesome. Having Superman Austin then beat all the stages in rapid succession was like a story from Legend. I like having the picture in picture as opposed to the full screen game like with most of Eggbusters. Will watch more.

This kid's got talent. Someone tell Mr. Roberson.

I'm a fan. I like the structure of it that conflicts with the humor

I think it's a really cool idea. Still keeps a lot of those Eggbusters vibes without having to bang your head against a wall in a Zelda game again. That and since you're starting from scratch and learning in each game, it's really easy to follow along. Hope there's more, but not sure how successful it'll be for views and the like since you're playing pretty obscure games.

As other have said, this looks like a welcome next iteration of Random Steam Game Fun. I liked that series, and I liked this as well. I thought an intriguing part of this new version was the game facts/history that you presented. It gave me some nostalgia for the podcast's game of the week section, which I always enjoyed. So I'd definitely say continue to sprinkle that in, or even make it more prominent (if possible - I know some games might not have much information to work with). Since you asked for things we DIDN'T like, all I can really come up with is that a few of the transitions from "talking directly at the camera" to "narrator" threw me for a second (2:50, 9:30). Maybe adding some music under the narrated parts would make those two "personalities" a little more distinct. But that's just nitpicky straw-grasping to find something to critique, and it's also probably only a result of its being"technically unfinished", as you say. I liked it overall. Thanks for your effort in researching how you can produce content that we'll enjoy, though I think you've always done a good job releasing that anyway.

I think this has a whole lot of potential, and will also showcase a bunch of obscure games nobody has ever heard of, accentuated w/ ur offhand goofball humor. I think the only problem arises when you pick a game that ends up being kinda boring and it's hard to say stuff about (kinda like this game but i generally dislike racing stuff in general so that might be personal taste)

You're an interesting case, Austin (in a good way). You make videos in which you play video games, but your channel never really feels like a gaming channel. The only thing I can compare it to is Red Letter Media and how they talk about films they've seen without really feeling like a review channel. And you don't have any pretense of wanting to be famous or having the widest appeal. Anyways, enough praising your creativity, lets talk about your creation. The random selection of games is a great way to make sure the show stays fresh. I would actually suggest that if you should come across any games you've already played, you should skip them. It felt like we were following a story when you played this game: First you were unfamiliar with the game, so you tried to make sense of it by thinking of other similar games. When that didn't work, you looked for answers. Once they were found, however, you still had to work hard to complete that first level. And from there you got better and better at the game until you were a true master of the system. All of this because you tried something new and unfamiliar. Overall, I love what you're doing with the show. Throwing in the facts helps the pacing immensely (I can see you've learned from Eggbusters EX). The only improvement I might suggest is making the game screen larger when doing the "picture-in-picture" thing. I understand the gameplay itself isn't always important to see, but if you're going to show it, you should try to make it easily visible.

Love it. Can't wait to see more! I liked that you set a goal for yourself in this game from the outset. Not sure if you'd be able to do that with every game, but I thought it worked well here. Wanna see if you can clear that fifth stage!

JC

Good concept. I think having a second body there would be fun. Would also protect you in the case of a game requiring two players.
