Graywall Poll: The Bouncer (Patreon)

Greetings, Threshold Patrons!

We have the first character locked in for the campaign, and it is the medusa Essra. As she's a returning character from Quickstone, she's already established. She's a roving Eye of Sora Teraza, a sort of independent investigator who looks into things that might interest her patron. Mechanically she's a Spirits Bard / Knowledge Cleric; guided by Teraza, she can glimpse and even alter the future. The image here is NOT Essra, who notably doesn't carry a sword; I'll have an image for Essra next week.

But now, let's get to our next character: THE BOUNCER. The story is centered around the Bloody Tooth, and things can get pretty rowdy there... so, who is it that maintains order on a bad night? Is it a...

• TROLL GLADIATOR. A scion of the Prince of Bones who's left their home and family for reasons yet to be revealed. When they aren't watching over the Tooth, they are fighting in the Bloodstone Arena; they've earned a small following with their deeds in the ring.

• ONI EX-FIST. Once, they were one of Sora Maenya's elite champions. Now, they're dealing with drunk ogres in the Bloody Tooth. This enigmatic oni doesn't talk about their past, but they definitely know how to solve problems.

• GARGOYLE GUARDIAN. This stoic statue doesn't work for the innkeeper; they're in love with the Tooth itself, and do what they can to keep the building happy.

• WORG WATCHDOG. They're devoted to the Innkeeper and, with apologies to Ja'taarka, they may be the best boy.

I don't intend to have more than one player character of the same species—now we have Essra, we're not going to have another medusa in the cast. However, this is NOT the only chance to play the four ancestries listed here; if the bouncer isn't a gargoyle, there may be other options for gargoyles on later polls!

For those who haven't been through this process before, the first step is choosing the basic concept of a character. Each character will have a second poll that determines class, subclass, and other personal details. The Oni Ex-Fist will probably be a Fighter, but are they an Eldritch Knight or a Rune Knight? We'll work out these details in the next poll for the chosen character!
