In 2015 Twogether Studios released its first game: the card-based RPG Phoenix Dawn Command, designed by Dan Garrison and I. Phoenix deals with a world faced by an existential supernatural threat. The player characters are Phoenixes, people who have died and returned to life imbued with supernatural power. With every death they grow stronger—but they can only return seven times. As released in 2015, Phoenix includes a seven-mission story arc. But Dan and I had developed on an eighth mission designed to serve as a "season finale", setting up a second act of the story. As it turned out, an RPG wasn't the best choice for a first product for a two-person company, and it wasn't economically feasible to produce new content. As a result, this mission was never released, and has been sitting on my computer just-not-quite-done. When someone asked me about Phoenix recently, I remembered this mission and decided to finish it and share it with my patrons! So, if you have never played Phoenix Dawn Command, this may be fairly incomprehensible—but for all you Phoenix players out there, I hope you enjoy this final story. And who knows? Perhaps we'll revisit Phoenix in the future...

It'd be interesting to bring something like the phoenixes into your next setting!

Thank you SO MUCH for sharing this with the world! Playing PDC in 2018-19 just before the pandemic and as a means to deal with what felt like the deteriorating state of the world is one of my best memories. To get more content for it now means a heck of a lot to me. If more content were ever to drop in the future, there's a small but rabid following in my neck of the woods who will be first in line to grab it! Just curious how you would envision player progression in a long-running PDC game. We found that by Mission 7 of the published arc, most Phoenixes were Rank 5 or 6. I love the tension that this adds to the game but it also makes it tricky to imagine a story going at least as long again as the existing content with the same characters. If you were developing the game again, would you lean more towards some second "tier" of progressions outside of the rank system (for which the plot of Dark Omens has a core justification) or towards a policy of retiring rank 7 Phoenixes and having the players start over? I'm insanely grateful for the content you've posted here, so anything more than that is pure gravy. Thanks again, and I'm even more excited about my second run through the campaign now!

I came running to Patreon as soon as I heard there was more Phoenix: Dawn Command. Easily one of the most inspired games I've seen, let alone had the great fortune to play. Desperately ardently hoping that we'll see more of Ilona and the daylit world in years to come 😤

Does anyone have a copy or link to the "Free player books and pre-generated characters"? I could not locate them on the Twogether studio's website.

Thanks for this! I am running a group right now and it is a lot of fun. Love to see the additional content.
