Hi Patrons!

I want to apologize to all of you for dropping off the grid this last month. This has been a difficult time for me for a number of reasons, and I want you all to know that I'm not simply ignoring the site; I'm just been too hard pressed to write what I want to write. I WANT to be doing more support, and end of this tunnel is finally in sight... so hopefully things should pick up again next month.

I don't have the time to do a full, proper article this week. But I can do a Q&A, and I'd like to address questions. I can't tackle questions that need article-length answers, but if a question can be answered in a paragraph or two I should be able to cover things. So let me know what you'd like to know, and I'll see about doing a few Q&A articles this week.

Thanks again for your support and your patience!

How do you imagine ID systems in Khorvaire? Who checks them, how are they authenticated?

Just hope you’re safe, no need to apologize! As for questions: How do mundane craftsmen and martial characters stay relevant in an increasingly magical world like the Five Nations? I feel like the Houses and magewrights crowd out trade and spellcasting ability seems borderline required going forward for spies and fighters alike. Do the deathless need the manifest zone of Irian to stay “alive,” or just need it for their creation? Would you ever allow a player to play as an escaped Chosen vessel?

You've said that nothing in Eberron is born evil. Does that include aberrations created by the daelkyr, like the dolgrim, dolgaunts, and dolgrue? I know that werewolves transform when any moon is full, but do the twelve moons effect them differently in any noticeable way? If their ships were made airtight, what's to prevent House Lyrandar from flying into space? What would they find when they got their?

Manifest zones are often portrayed as this Venn diagram overlap between Eberron and another dimension/world, with the overlap recurring cyclically like the orbits of planetary bodies. Assuming that's an accurate depiction of what you intended them to be, are there zones that respond to stimulus at a lower level of magic than eldritch machine; could a tinkering arcanist build a music box that opens a foot-sized manifest zone? Are manifest zones subject to continental drift, ocean levels, etc.?

Probably says a lot about your work and the quality therein that I honestly noticed you were gone and thought "he's worked long and hard, I'll just be glad when I see what comes next." What was Cyre like pre-Mourning? We get examples (though not your own) of culture, music, art and food in the rest of the Five Nations in the book Five Nations, but their chapter on Cyre focuses on the present Mournland. In your mind, what was the Cyran culture like? How did they differ from Thrane and Aundair and Breland and Karrnath? What food was theirs and what style of dress did they favour? I'm especially interested in food (on a personal note) as I feel it speaks a lot about a particular country/culture. As an embellishment on that note, would you say that the book's representation of cuisine in the rest of the Five Nations (Thrane's spiced pepper dishes and cool sherbets, Aundair's fish and rabbits with pastries and wine, Karrnath's beers and cheeses with stews and pies, and Breland's meat and mushroom pastries, egg dishes and fried spiders with southern spices) is mostly accurate to your imagining of the world? On a similar food kick, are there dishes or regional delicacies in the rest of the world which would be of note? Do Riedran diplomats or merchants (or the Inspired and their guards and soldiers) find Khorvaire food hard to stomach or unpalatable, or is their empire just as varied in gastronomy? Do the shifters of Tashana (and the duergar) mostly eat simple meat dishes derived from the surrounding area or is their sea trade robust enough to have other foodstuffs? What do the elves of Aerenal favour eating, and how does it differ from the Valenar (and the elves of Aerenal's steppes)?

You never have to apologize Keith, you are a busy man and still you take time to reach out and talk to the people that love your worlds. As for a question I do have one for you, I am not sure if you've mentioned it somewhere before but the Giants of Xen'Drik they were a magical society but did they have gods? I know the Dhakaani Empire was mentioned to be agnostic but what of the Giants?

Baator was added in for 4e, added Asmodeus to Eberron, and broke the standard "thirteen minus one" pattern of Eberron. Now that we're moving to 5e, any chance it goes bye-bye?
