Greetings, Inner Circle patrons!

The last poll showed a strong interest in locations, NPCs, and general lore posts, and you’ll be seeing those in the future. But I’d also like to have a good stock of questions like “Can Warforged Cry”— questions that are interesting as a stand alone topic and crucially, that can be answered in no more than two paragraphs. The point here is to have some interesting questions I can address when I DON’T have a lot of time.

So with that in mind, do you have any interesting, tight-focus questions? Post them in the comments!

One of the biggest challenges for me in Eberron (and many other settings TBH) is how much of the general lore people of the world are likely to have. For example: A) Do people across Khorvaire know about the Ghash'kala Orcs and their work to keep demons who break through the labyrinth from getting into the rest of the continent? B) Are people in the Five Nations reasonably aware that dragons exist? What do they know or think about them (vs. what's actually going on)? C) What's the level of knowledge about manifest zones, or the planes to which they're connected? D) Is the history of the Last War well known, or are many/most battles and skirmishes not well reported-on or well-remembered? Unrelated questions: 1) What is newspaper availability like in various parts of the world? How does the printing and delivery process work? 2) Are the Riedrans generally welcomed and accepted in Khorvaire? Are people suspicious of them and their culture (I'd think, especially, that the no family structure/unit thing could bias many "family-focused" types against them)? 3) Are the Dragonmarked Houses actively working to subvert or change the laws around their ability to own lands or standing armies? 4) Related to #2 - if there's a reasonable process for newspaper printing, does this also extend to books? Are celebrated authors a thing in Eberron? Are there "hot books" that everyone's reading? Do these strongly influence politics, culture, trade, perception of other places, etc the way they did in the pre-radio centuries of our world?

These might not be short questions, but 1. Progressivism and labor movements - given its economic development, Eberron seems very backwards politically in canon. It feels like this is a missing third leg to the house v nobility conflict. 2. What happened in Karrnath between 970 and 990, as Kaius executed his plan to regain the throne and kick the EC out?

Jarrod Taylor

1. The ancient giants had moon devastating weaponry, but what recreations and comforts did their advanced magical society have?

Jarrod Taylor

2. What are the names and accomplishments of each of the Six Kings immortalized in statue, is Jhazaal Dhakaan one of them, or were the kings under her imperial crown?

FalseAesop

What is the typical education for a typical citizen of one of the Thronehold Nations like?

Joseph Meehan

More questions 3. What kinds of city services are in sharn, eg Trash Pickup? 4. How dire is New Cyre's situation? Does it have an economic future? 5. What kinds of games (as opposed to sports) are popular in Sharn? Card games, dice games, board games? (are Gloom and Phoenix Dawn Brigade a thing?)

Kraig Horigan

1. Thronehold - Do the other dragonmark houses have a presence there besides Denieth. 2. What are the old laws of Galifar? 3. I was thinking of making a ward that use to be where the Cyre embassy was but it is now where the other new nations use for their ambassadors and its sorta a mos eisely. Does this fit? 3. Besides political intrigue and organized criminal activity is there any other threats in Thronehold?

Michaël Baglio

Bouncing of a couple of themes mentioned already: - What's the level of knowledge accessible to the general populace on subjects such as "The Long Lost Giant Empire" or "The Daelkyrs" ? How much can someone that hasn't spent their life researching the subject really know about those ?

Zed Bundershot

If changlings disagree over a shared identity, is it a, "...borrowed my favorite sweater without asking!" kind of disagreement, or a 'Gone Girl' kind of disagreement?

Joseph Meehan

Some naval questions A. How much state-affiliated naval shipping is there vs. everything being Lyrandar B. What's the Scions Sound like? Was this a major shipping (and during the Last War, combat) hub? C. What exactly where the pirates of Stormreach pirating? Were they sailing all the way up to the southern coast of Khorvaire to raid ships? D. Why isn't there a prominent northern port for Karrnath? It seems like the Bitter Sea would be important enough to ship through, is that something that's just missing from the map?

Dammerung

What are the prevailing winds around Khorvaire? When sailing is it faster to go around the continent in one direction than in the other?

Anthony J. Turco

Now that Kalashtar spirit lineages are no longer tied to gender, what happens when a Kalashtar has a child with a human or khoravar?

Christopher Bishop

Are Docent's still a thing for warforged and if so where are they coming from? Are they strictly found as artifacts in Xendrik that just "work" with warforged or are they actively being created by Cannith?

Matt Brady

Who exactly was the Kingdom of Galifer fighting that the Karrnathi martial spirit stayed strong for 800 years? Were the Lhazaar raiding more? Were monsters from what would be Drooam, demons/barbarians from the Wastes and the occasional aberration/fiend popping up really frequent enough? Was it goblins/orcs?

Serpen Thrope

I have two questions, both related to historical parallels: -Did you intend Karnath to be similar to Tudor England (ie, as far as most people know two of their last three monarchs changed the official religion because it was politically convenient)? -How would you make an Eberron version of Rasputin?

Mike Chapman

"Every one of the house's (Ghallanda) enclaves - which are more numerous than those of any other dragonmarked house - is a sanctuary beyond the legal reach of any other dragonmarked house." This intrigued me. Is it a benefit only Ghallanda enjoys? What constitutes an enclave? Is every Gold Dragon Inn a potential refuge?

Joseph Blazer

Why is Orien's Zilargo enclave in Trolanport, but the lightning rail terminus is in Korranburg?

Narcissa

How do the dragonborn and lizardfolk of the Cold Sun Federation view each other?

Zed Bundershot

Sorry for the late query. What is the Eberron (Lyrandar) way of 'christening' a boat (airship) launch?

Matt Brady

Oh might be too late but I imagine the answer is cut and dry. In Shadow of the Last War among the treasures the party finds with dead Brelish soldiers is a flametouched iron holy symbol of the Sovereign Host. Is flametouched iron often used for non-Silver Flame holy symbols? Only in Thrane perhaps? I assume Seekers wouldn't use the material?
