Following a last-minute surge, the subject of September's main article will be Gnomes Beyond Zilargo. Thanks to all the new patrons who've just joined—I hope you'll stick around!

The Gnomes article will come later this month, and in the meantime I'm looking for new IFAQ topics. As a reminder...

With IFAQs I want questions I could answer in one to two paragraphs. So you need a clear, concise topic with a specific answer, not something abstract or broad.

I'm more likely to answer questions that will interest a wide audience or that could come up in many campaigns, as opposed to  super-specific questions whose answers most people will never use.

I will NOT have time to answer all questions, but feel free to repost a question next moth if it doesn't make it this month!

Thanks again for your support!

What does modern giant society look like after their de-evolution?

Narcissa

What's Shaarat Kol and Kethelrax like? Do the kobolds and goblins have the same culture, or are kobolds as described in Volo's i.e. traps, cunning, trobal etc?

Constantine

How well known is the commonality of the 13-1 in Eberron? Is it common numerology? Does it cause issues with thier being 15 member of the Sovereign Host?

Zed Bundershot

From your SageAdviceEu post,"Antus ir’Soldorak recently began minting electrum coins called “Eyes” (due to the stylized eye on one face)." What are the public/private reasons for that eye and what has been the public reaction(s)? [per whatever's interesting to you]

What does primary education look like in the Five Nations?

Jason PB

How is the academic and social life structured for Khorvaire’s universities? Like are there Arcanix frats with draconic lettering instead of Greek, or a Morgrave U lacrosse team, or a Korranberg College performing arts department? Thanks Keith!

Earth Seraph Edna

What would be the biggest difficulties in exposing the Lords of Dust, the Chamber, and/or the Dreaming Dark to the nations of Khorvaire?

Jarrod Taylor

What happens to the spouse/partner(s) of an excoriate? If they are expected to shun the former member of the House, is the partnership dissolved?

Thomas Brøgger

If you were to place the Icewind Dale: Rime of the Frostmaiden adventure in Eberron, where would you place it?

1) Are the people of Khorvaire aware of the basics of the Undying Court? It seems weird to me how close the Undying Court is to the goals of the Seekers, especially considering the latter were inspired by its enemy.

2)As a followup, have the Aereni sought to colonize a major Irian manifest zone elsewhere?

Wandering Mage

Since all the Overlords have a set of conditions for release in the Draconic Prophecy and Sarlona is a blind spot in it, are the conditions for the Overlords bound around Sarlona inexplicably hidden, missing, or is are these conditions a particular exception that can be divine by the means normally used by such groups like the Chamber and the Lords of Dust?

Do the Dragonmark houses view The Twelve as an authority or an advisory body?

Dennis Olesen

do magebred flower and plant exist and what use could they have?.

DGlover

Has the world lost anything since Dal Quor was knocked out of balance? Besides the moon, obviously. Are their things that no longer exist, spells that can’t be cast, or creatures/beings that went extinct because that plane was torn from its proper place?

1. How would you use the Crimson Covenant in your Eberron? 2. What's going on with the Dreamspace? 3. To what degree do cameras exist? 4. What's unique about Eberron's astral and Ethereal planes? 5. What's the relationship between overlords and the planes, eg Katashka and Mabar, Rak Tulkhesh and Shavarath, or Dral Khatuur and Risia? 6. What's a factory in Khorvaire like?

Asmuz

Hey, Keith! I will repost some of last month and add new ones. 1. What's Kaius I Been Doing For Almost a Century? (this is a funny version of a old forum topic that I found yours haha, but about Vol) 2. What are the themes of all feyspires? (I know that near half them have one, but idea here would be a table with all themes and just that, something as “Shae Joridal is about optimism even in dark times”) 3. Jorasco and Karnathi Culture (It is easy understand how Deneith was influece by Karrnath culture, but can you talk about how House Jorasco was and is? This is my perception that a House having a main enclave in some place will make it more cultural attached and influenced by it) 4. What was the Family of Mordain Fleshweaver inside House Phiarlan? He work in Twelve, that have his main base in Karrnath, he looks like more artisan than entertenment guy...would be him a Thuranni (not as House, because shadow schism is after he leaves, but as family)? This question appear when we here in my home start make a box/chest of houses of shadows. 5. What was there in Aerenal before the elves? 6. Is there humanoids beyond elves and half elves in Aerenal? In a significant way, not just “humans that make some trade” or things like this. Gnomes (maybe you talk about this in the article): 1. Do you have some idea about gnomes origin? I know is strange ask, because a lot of origins are a mistery, but gnomes usually have origin in fey planes, but in your Eberron it is not. 2. Is there some gnomes groups that travel for other planes beyond Thelanis or Dal Quor? 3. If there is some new idea about using or place of deep gnomes, I always will love to know.

What is the path to citizenship in the Five Nations? I ask because the "monstrous" races of Droaam are technically born within Brelish borders but it does seem like that is not a guarantee of citizenship rights by itself, yet the giant owls of Sharn are able to run for public office. So, in my mind, there's a mechanism for citizenship that doesn't legally discriminate based on race but also isn't taken advantage of by all intelligent races within a country's borders, whether through de facto discrimination or a lack of interest by the non-citizens.

What sets the dwarves from the Realm Below apart from the Dhakaani Empire. You mentioned that they had different resources then the Dhakaani but that doesn’t really explain there difference. The Giants were masters of magic and the Dhakaani create powerful weapons and armor. However it seems that the dwarves have greater powerful magic items but does set them apart from the others. I ask because I already have a ruined empire destroyed by the Dealkyr in the form of the Dhakaani. So why would I use the realm below rather Dhakaani ruins with a Dealkyr planning to launch a major attack.

Considering how long Dal Quor's cycles are, is there any known records or way of figuring out how many times Dal Quor has overturned in Eberron's history? Did the early dragons have a much different Dal Quor than even the Dal Quor that was present when the Overlords were sealed?

Wandering Mage

Smaller question, what creature type should figments/drifters of Dal Quor be? Dal Quor native fey? The creature type of the form they exhibit?

John Stookey

How do governance and taxation work in the biggest principalities in Lhazaar? Do princes get cuts of each raid for governmental purposes, or does revenue come just from more traditional avenues? Moreover, are there any established checks on the princes' powers, or are they all like little autocracies?

Samantha Flynn

What's the relationship between House Lyrandar and the Lhazaarites? Are Lyrandar ships treated the same in the Principalities as they are elsewhere? Might you find a Lyrandar contracted to a Lhazaar ship to run an elemental galleon? For that matter, do you see aerial pirates on airships ever becoming a thing, now that airships are becoming more available for commercial use?

After reading Exploring Eberron, I have questions about Sahuagin. When it's said Sahuagin build their cities around the kar'lassa, does that mean the entire kar'lassa is covered by buildings? Is any part of the Kar'assa visible from outside buildings? What are the types of buildings around the Kar'lassa? Harvesting only? Universities? Is the 13 mile distance the Kar'lassa effects the border of the cities or do the cities spread farther than that? What does Sahuagin architecture look like? The book mentions Sahuagin like to eat...what's dining out in a Sahuagin city like? What dishes are they known for? Hal'syra seems like the most likely city for an outsider to go to, are there any points of interest a surface dweller would see other than the quadrant enchanted for them? Basically, more Sahuagin culture stuff.

Matthew Szlucha

What stands out about Eberron's transitive planes? The color pools and ethereal curtains look like the moons tied to the planes they lead to as described in Exploring Eberron, but is there anything else to visit these planes for besides their usual uses? Or are they just part of the backbone of Eberron's reality, a place for the githyanki to anchor their vessels in the Astral Plane, a method to cross the Material Plane unseen in the Border Ethereal, and a shortcut to the other planes in the Deep Ethereal and the Astral?

I don’t have sure if would be a IFAQ or a article, and god knows that I already made a good amount of questions, but came to my mind the idea of a IFAQ about how is piracy in a wide magic world. How this in Eberron is different of any other world, what kind of magical devices are common, etc... For instance, Eberron is a world where someone can walk on water, how this kind of thing would change the way that piracy works? But again, I already ask too much. It is more for not forget the question. Sounds something cool as IFAQ or article.

Asmuz

Oh, thanks Matthew Brady. It is not all, but I really forgot about this lightining round.

I find tightly controlled police states like Zilargo and Riedra to be really difficult to run in a way that players might actually enjoy. I could use some guidance as to the sorts of adventures that might be had in Zilargo. Also, what sorts of "small favours" are Zils likely to ask of adventurers, and just how much trouble is the average Zil willing to get the average adventurer in when requesting such a favour (ie. are favours likely to draw the attention of the Trust)?

Clio M

I'm two days late, so this might go unnoticed, but worst case I can ask again next month. To repeat last month's question, has Khorvaire devised an arcane equivalent to photography? Additionally, are there any more specific swears for other religions than the Host? I'm mining your novels for some, but they mostly seem to be swears for Vassals specifically, with some Silver Flame swears.

Reighndragon

In Exploring Eberron you describe two examples of Heart Demiplanes. How would you describe the heart demiplane of Masvirik? Which properties would you attach to this Heart Plane? Thanks in advance.

Who are the major, canonical (or even Kanonical) warforged NPCs other than the Lord of Blades? I know my fair way around many of the NPCs of the setting, but for such a highly-spotlighted race, the warforged do not seem to have many particularly memorable in-setting NPCs aside from the Lord of Blades. I know of, for example, Bulwark and Bastion, but even those are MIA figures who might just be the Lord of Blades anyway. I also know of some of the (in)famous warforged in Races of Eberron, like Graven, Hatchet, and Sever Brave. I suppose there is also Three, Boranel's new bodyguard, in Five Nations. The Cogs warforged NPCs in Sharn: City of Towers have some details as well.

How would you use Risia, Everice and the Frostfell in your games? Do they lend themselves to different stories or are they largely interchangeable?j

David Mitchell

I have read exploring eberrron (and loved it) I also loved the Risia write up. I probably worded illy question wrong. It’s more now we have Risia why would you use Everice or the frostfell. Everice is home to frost giants from Xendrik and frostfell has Proto dwarves but Risia has both in a much more compelling story and so much more. Am I missing interesting brooks for these two places. How do you use those two places in an interesting way? Do you have any previous article on them? They just feel a bit redundant with Risia being as good as it is.

Asmuz

Another one about gnomes that maybe will be touch in the article of the month :is there a significant amount of dragonmarked gnomes in Lorghalen? Besides not have anymore something so close to Zil or Trust, probably the first group to go there have some dragonmarked heirs, I think.

Hey Keith! In ExE Jhaazal Dhakaan is said to have crafted the Ghaal'duul but she is also described as being a Bard (the greatest bard of the age). Despite the ancient Dhakaani having a strong artificer tradition, one of its greatest artifacts was crafted by a bard! I know in 5e anybody proficient in Arcana can craft magic items so it isn't impossible for her to do. Was this ever a point of contention to the Dhakaani in your mind or are the magical item traditions of the daashor seen as especially different to that of the duur'kala? If the early is the case what did this tension look like, and If the later why do the dar see it that way? (((Sorry for the long question feel free not to answer or answer as little of it as you like)))
