Greetings, Patrons!

April is going to be another busy month. I'm deep in my writing deadlines for Frontiers of Eberron, and I can't afford to break that concentration for a major article on an unrelated topic. But I want to keep the site active, so let's do some IFAQs.

For those of you who are new to the site, IFAQs are interesting questions (technically, "inFrequently Asked Questions") that I can address in about 1,000 words. The two key points  are that it is a SHORT topic—again, no more than 1,000 words—and that it's something I think has general interest to a broad audience. So good IFAQs are "Can warforged cry" (short answer, interesting to anyone who plays a warforged) or "How are familiars treated in Khorvaire" (Interesting question, lots of characters have familiars). Bad IFAQs are "What kind of familiars do Lorghalen wizards use" (Too narrow, many people will never use Lorghalen) or "How would you run a campaign at Arcanix" (great question, but it would take more than a thousand words to answer).

Ask away, and thanks for your support!

How is bonecraft armor made? Or to expand slightly, is divine powered artifice a thing?

Matthew Booth

I think that "What sort of pets do the people of Eberron have, specifically focusing on those that would be unfamilar to us" might be a good one? Like if Brels keep small magebred bears.

Spike Hemphill

What is name and features of Bel Shalor heart demiplane?

It's a rehash of last month, but I'm throwing my hat in for rare quori again

Thomas Brøgger

In what clever ways do the halflings of Gatherhold utilize their dinosaurs, apart from just using them as beasts of burden?

Eric Smith

What kind of intrigue is there in Lamplighter's Guilds?

Brian Jennings

Dragons are demonstrated to have very advanced magical knowledge and capabilities that surpass the capabilities of the mightiest mortal casters. Are their heights ultimately accessible to the world at large under conventional magical theory (though, perhaps, millennia down the road), or did the dragons develop a lesser form of magic that they then shared around so that no other races may reach the capability of the giants, let alone the dragons?

Will Buck

What are the differences between the archfey known as the “Prince of Frost,” who dwells in Taer Syraen in Karrnath, versus the “Queen of Winter” of Everice?

Brian Blagg

Have the harpies of the Haunted Song seen a culture shift since they relocated to the Irian manifest zone in the Shining Valley? Five Nations p67

What happens when you cast speak with dead on a body that was mind seeded? Do you get the original host, or the quori-made-mortal?

Earth Seraph Edna

How do dragons of the Chamber actually manipulate the people of Khorvaire, insomuch as they lack the mental manipulation abilities of the other supernatural factions? Alternatively, how do the Lords of Dust actually manipulate the people of Khorvaire, considering that their mental manipulation magics are not quite on par with, say, the Dreaming Dark?

House Sivis Echoer Station

What is the favored ways to eat potatoes in the different nations/groups? Ex. Karrns fry them then make Poutine, Brels make a mean baked potato with herb butter.

I have some, maybe too specific, but anyway I will put here: 1. Elemental Galleons how work in kanon (I don’t know if is too big for here). 2. How would you use a Roc in Eberron (I liked a article about monster and this one sounds as one that could be easily cover in a IFAQ) 3. The monk gnome order of the book Morgrave Misc. (someone ask once here and you told that would be a fun IFAQ, just for support this question). 4. What Lhaazar Island you would choice for the start of a pirate campaign? Any thoughts about how would you would make one would be cool too. 5. Other frontiers cities beyond Breland - Droaam and Q’Barra that you would think interesting to use in a campaign. 6. Sphinx table or where you would use a Sphinx in Eberron beyond Morgrave University. 7. What you be the name and the objective of a Paladin/monk/druid order on the Hammer? (Ok, this one is too specific, but funny).

Alex Perez

Are there other native celestials on Eberron apart from the couatl? How have the cultures of Khorvaire adapted to Channeling and Possession in Eberron? Not sure if this is too big for an iFaq but maybe going more in depth on the Lurker in Shadow and Aboleths.

Wandering Mage

I'd definitely be interested in hearing more about familiars in Eberron.

Joseph Meehan

What's up with the Dreamspace? How do eldritch machines, like creation forges and storm spires, fit into Khorvaire's industry? What are some prominent labor groups in Khorvaire? (few examples like the Wizarding Circles article) How do world affecting magic items like Bags of Holding and Headbands of Arcane Intellect fit into Khorvaire? What's special about textiles in Khorvaire? What's special about mining in Khorvaire?

Jarrod Taylor

We know Eberron did not have an ice age, but was there ever a landmass like Pangea, and/or are there older continents than others either from natural creation or ones that existed during the Progenitor fight from a mythological standpoint?

Matt Brady

Belligerents in the Last War: we see a lot of talk about conflict between Karrnath and Aundair, Karrnath and Cyre, Cyre and Breland, Thrane and everyone. And Forge of War (non-Keith book) notes a non-aggression pact between Aundair and Cyre and an inital deteriorating alliance between Thrane, Karrnath and Breland. Did nations who don't share a land border have significant conflict during the Last War? Breland and Karrnath, Aundair and Cyre. Was the Last War a free for all or is this something Forge of War might have got right? Blood of Vol and Dwarves: you mentioned in one of the articles on the Blood of Vol that early faithful included the dwarves (logical as they're right next to Lhazaar and on the way to Karrnath). Besides Clan Narathun (noted in Exploring Eberron), are there any dwarves who still practice the faith? Does the Narathun version of the Seekers differ from the Karrn Seekers much the same way as the Lhazaar Seekers do? The Talenta are in the way of the Seeker expansion too, would they have any significant followings of the Blood of Vol in the places where Karrns and halflings mix? Flametouched Iron: Is flametouched iron important to the Vassal faith? Daskara/Thrane was a strong center of the Host before the Church of the Silver Flame arose, so it stands to reason they might have used the local unique metal, but if so does it still see use in weapons and holy symbols of the Host? In Shadows of the Last War it is possible to find a holy symbol of the Sovereign Host among the dead in the Mournland, but is this common or simply a case of "special material and most likely deities"? Shifters and Olarune: Is the shifter migration to Khorvaire via Thelanis rather than Lammania reflected in a larger theme? Olarune being an archfey rather than the literal moon, does this represent a connection to the fey among the shifters which might inform a bardic/warlock/greensinger tradition among the shifters? Druid Cooperation: Do the druids of the Eldeen Orders have any commerce or cooperation with the Gatekeepers? Do they understand the importance of the seals or is it mostly not their problem? Does it vary by order? Classic D&D Racial Enemies: In 3.5 certain races had built in animosity with other types and races. Gnomes being good at fighting kobolds and goblins still holds water, as does dwarves against the orcs of the Jhorash'tar. But have dwarves had much historical conflict with the goblins? And what of dwarves and gnomes being able to dodge giants more effectively? Are there ogres and trolls more widely in Khorvaire historically than present day? The elves having prestige classes at the time for killing orcs likely can be ignored, but were these core racial mechanics just "don't think too hard about it"?

If you were to 're-skin' a published adventure's gameworld to Eberron-specific details (CandleKeep Mysteries comes to mind) do you have a method that helps keep you from doing too much or not enough? I've lost track if you've previously answered.., since an elf/dwarf/gnome may reasonably expect to outlive three human generations; would you happen to have an example of what national loyalty may mean to an individual who can plan their life on century time-scales?

Felix Shafir

How does magical education at Arcanix differ from that at Morgrave University? (For example, is Arcanix also a university, or is it more like a Hogwarts-like high school, perhaps with an undergraduate-style program afterwards?)

Joe Solis

How much does the average person on Khorvaire know about the different planes and their manifest zones? What's the common knowledge around planes and planar travel?

Kermit The Kool

Here is one i wondered for a while, How do the Daelkyr and Fiends of the wastes interact with one another, Are they usually hostile immediately Or are they more likely to enter trades and scheming.

David Stanley

What is the general relationship between the different halfling groups (i.e., Jorasco, Ghallanda, the Halflings living in the Talenta Plains, Halflings in the the 5 nations).

John Barleycorn

Are members of dragonmarked houses without mark treated like nobles? Can they have some business outside of the scope of house specialization? For example, Orien heir that failed test of siberys and opened a winery. Thanks!

Eric Christian Berg

I've always been interested in how the long lifespans on some races affect their relationship with their neighbors in integrated societies like the Five Nations. You've spoken a bit about this in relation to the creation of the khoravar but I'd be interested in how things are now rather than when the elves initially arrived. Do they still tend to dominate positions of power because of their long lifespans? What reminded me of this was reading City of Stormreach's entry on Yorrick Amanatu.

Brian Higginbotham

How about an article with some ways that the subclasses published in Tasha's Cauldron of Everything might fit into Eberron?

James Heide

What social/occupational role do kobolds who stray into eastern regions of Khorvaire (i.e. outside of Droaam) occupy?

Spike Hemphill

Forgive me I already ask question about Bel Shalor but after thinking this might a better general question. What counted as a war crime during the last war? Sorry again for asking two questions. You can pick one that best suits IFAQ.

James Heide

In case this question has more broad use than my previous: Rising From the Last War mentions the Gatekeepers as an alternate Religious Order. Which patron would be most interested in reviving the Gatekeepers, and what benefits could they offer to a group working on their behalf?

Hello ! The Mournland has been around for a couple of years at the start of the campaign time. One can assume that many groups have tried to unveil the mystery : The Arcane Congress for magic knowledge, House Cannith for scavenging, Prince Oargev, Morgrave University... What would they aim at ? Where would they start ? Who would they hire ? How secretive would they be ? What cooperation or rivalry would we be expecting between these groups ? Thanks for all this work, I'm happy to contribute.

What would be an example of a part of the Draconic Prophecy which would lead to the release of the Lurker in Shadow? What other servants than aboleths does the Lurker have?

Matthew Szlucha

Do people carry a homunculus with them often? Would an artificer's Homunculus Servant infusion immediately stand out or would it be just another small personal construct?
