Greetings, Patrons!

While it's better than April, May is still a busy month. I'm catching up on things that got shifted by the events of April, notably taxes and FRAG -- and I can also reveal that part of what's been keeping me busy is KB Presents's Project: Pomegranate, which we've now revealed brings together Ravenloft and Eberron. We don't have a solid release date yet, but I'm sure we will have more details and peeks for you soon.

However, between all of that and the next session of Threshold (Threshold patrons, more on that later this week) I'm going to be sticking to IFAQ articles this month, and I'm here to gather questions. For those who are new to this process, here's the rules.

I am looking for questions that I can answer QUICKLY. If I can answer your question in a few sentences, I'll do so right here. If I can answer a question in a few paragraphs, it's a matter of whether I choose it as a topic for an IFAQ article. If the question will take more than a few paragraphs to answer, it's not going to get addressed here. So the tighter the question, the more chance I'll be able to answer it.

For IFAQ articles, I'm more likely to choose questions that will interest a wide audience or that could come up in many campaigns, as opposed to  super-specific questions whose answers most people will never use.

If a question would require me to do significant research, I'm not going to have time to address it. "What could be done with the Dreamspace" or "How do people treat familiars in Khorvaire" are both good questions because the answers are entirely rooted in Eberron. "What's interesting about the textile industry in Khorvaire" is a bad IFAQ question because *I* don't know anything about textiles—so to answer it properly I would have to research the textile industry. That's possible for a Dragonmark, but not for an IFAQ.

I will only answer a maximum of one question per patron per month (in terms of questions posted in response to this). You can ask as many questions as you want, if you're not sure which are easiest for me to answer, but if you ask six questions I'm only going to answer one of them.  Feel free to repost questions from previous months; just because I didn't get to a question in the past doesn't mean I won't answer it in the future.

That was a big wall of text. The main thing is that I'd LIKE to answer every question, but realistically I just don't have time.

Thank you all for your support!

In what clever ways do the halfling of Gatherhold utilize their dinosaurs besides using them as beasts of burden?

Any characters from Eberron you would like to see get the 6 inch action figure treatment ala Drizzt?

Do the Overlords, and their envoys in the Lords of Dust, have any form of a non-aggression pact towards one another, or is it just a free-for-all should the machinations of one come into conflict with another?

1. Thoughts about the gnome monk order from Zilargo. How would you use it? 2. What Lhaazar Island you would use as start of a pirate campaign and how you would would do it? Any thoughts about what kind of plot you feel that fit with this more (as...become the High Prince or a adventure about a lost treasure) 3. What specific major plot you would use in Lorghalen? Overlord, Daelkyr, Quori or other things 4. Places beyond Morgrave in Eberron that you could see a Sphinx be there.

Would the elves of Khorvaire ever refer to their age in human years similar to how we multiply a dog's age by 7 for their age in "dog years?" For example, would a 210 year old elf ever refer to themself as 30 in human years?

Jarrod Taylor

We know that House Cannith really pushed new boundaries with constructs and living constructs, shield guardians all the way down to warforged, but are there any examples of golems or constructs from other cultures or ages? Any known for producing particular golems?

"Kolkarun's mother was a gnome" - a common insult among the dwarves towards Clan Kolkarun With the clan being the most adept sailors of the Mror, and claiming descent from Kol Korran himself, is Clan Kolkarun connected to the Korrans of Zilargo? The gnomes themselves are noted sailors and had early contact with the Mror exiles, could this insult true? Maybe not literally, but is Kolkarun close to the head family of Korranberg, or is their shared veneration of the Sovereign of Wealth more to do with their ideals aligning?

What sort of entity is Ahdryatmin from the Adar section of Secrets of Sarlona supposed to be, under your conception of Lamannia in Exploring Eberron? How is Ahdryatmin related to the Draconic Prophecy, in Sarlona, of all places?

House Sivis Echoer Station

You've talked before about using the moons as horoscopes and in the last article you mentioned that there is general knowledge of moons (their names, and associations). Like modern Horoscopes is there a sensational following of a "dumbed down" version of the lunar horoscopes of Eberron or in what ways have the "original" horiscopes that the Druids observed changed to become the "modern" version? (Oh gosh. That got big. I'm sorry.)

How does public education actually work in Khorvaire? Who receives free education? Is it any different in, say, Sharn, particularly the lower wards?

Hi Keith, What's the difference between the Overlords and the Daelkyr? is there a relationship between then?

Do prophetic dreams occur in Dal Quor and if so do the Dreaming dark collect or research them?

Spike Hemphill

Are they any limit Quori shaping dreams? Do Quori create figments or enlist Drifters for dreaming dark?

How prevalent is the usage of extradimensional space in Khorvaire? How would you use the Dreamspace in a campaign? How do you handle some of the more meta-impactful Uncommon magic items, such as the Headband of Intellect? What are some of the most prominent families from each (or maybe a selection of) dragonmarked house(s)?

Eric Smith

As Everbright Lanterns are common, are candles more a sign of poverty or the primitive or do many people still use them? As Lhazaar has less Dragonmarked houses, are they more likely to use oil lanterns, particularly with whaling?

Patrick Malloy

What are the towns inside the Towering Wood like? We know about Greenheart and the feyspire Shae Loralyndar, but are there others? Who lives there, and how are they different than the ones in the western Reaches?

Each of the Five Nations made use of warforged during the Last War. Did any of the other, seceding nations? Who had the greatest number of warforged soldiers? How did the different nations deploy their respective warforged?

If Eberron + Ravenloft = Pomegranate, would you say that Eberron + ROTFM = Snowpea and Eberron + Candlekeep Mysteries = Wax Apple? Assuming your party is done playing through it, how would you reskin/convert Rime of the FrostMaiden to Eberron? Are there parts of Candlekeep Mysteries that favor swapping one library for another, Korranberg, Morgrave, the Tower of the Twelve, Arcanix, etc?

Who is the character in the image? I love their design...

Are there any notorious international outlaws known in Khorvaire? If so, who would be tasked with bringing them to justice? Sentinel Marshals? Bounty Hunters?

I’m running an Eberron campaign right now that has gone from 3rd to 12th level; called Morgrave Adventurers Club. They started off as failing students at Morgrave doing extra credit/after hours classes to get a passing grade and have now embarked on a whirlwind adventure that has pitted them against the Seven in the Whispering Woods to taking down a rogue professor from their school who thought they were pulling on the power of the Rage of War. So, that being said, they are now in Argonnessen, chasing down a cure for an ancient curse that has affected two of their party. (A cleric with the mark of healing and lover of the silver flame... who was reincarnated and lost her Mark...for now) and a Cannith marked wizard. I was wondering if Io’lokar would be the best place for them to find answers? I’m feeling like it is, and there’s not too much about it in lore books. There’s enough, but I feel like I’m missing something. They just made it through the Great Barrier Mountains (hehe hags posing as Mountain Mothers and freeing a domain lord from their dark Magic’s). This is my first time doing anything in Argonnessen and I don’t want to let my players down. Dragon Island is so damn intimidating as a DM. But, my players requested that the story go there. lol So, thoughts or helpful suggestions/tips? Thanks 🙏🏻

What relationship does the Serpentine Table have with the governments of the Five Nations? Do they have agreements with nations and restrictions on which information they can and cannot trade in order to do business on said nation's territory?

Jeff Lyttle

How do commercial establishments deal with familiars? Is it like service animals, that they are allowed but they just sit on the floor. Is it common for establishments to cater to clientele with familiars (i.e. The Ship's Cat in Stormreach). Are more exotic familiars, like pseudodragons, treated any differently?

Skyler Moucha

In the Arcane Industry article, you briefly touched on homunculi and familiars. I would love to read a more detailed discussion of them.

OHeyItsRick

Would still be interested to hear the "How do people treat familiars in Khorvaire" explanation and more information in general on familiars in Eberron.

Joana

How powerful is the average Lich in Eberron? Are they as powerful as the MM's Lich or are they weaker? If they are as powerful, why that group of liches In Lhazaar have not taken over Khorvaire yet?

Mariamow

What does prophetic significance look like? Is q dragonmark graffiti'd on the wall of a ruined building prophetically significant? How do the Chamber and Lords of Dust recognise this significance (ie. Some sort of invisible signiture??)

Donald Hughes

How does Lycanthropy work in Eberron since there are 12 moons that each have different cycles?

David Byrd

I vaguely remember reading that the Shadow Marches utilized sheriffs who were accepted by both the clans and the tribes punish lawbreakers. If I’m not crazy and I did read this how do you see the role in society coming about?

Federico Crivellin

Hello Keith! Aberrant Dragonmarks can appear on a Warforged?

John Barleycorn

Hi Keith, how does Morgrave university works in terms of recruiting new students? How much it can cost per year? Or is it the talent that forms entry barrier, not the money - can they have some sort of research for especially talented young people and offer them free tuition? For example, is it possible that some people from Morgrave notice poor urchin kid on the street and take him in because he is a talented sorcerer and seems like promising/useful student and/or magic user? Thanks in advance!

David Mitchell

We know about the druidic traditions of Khorvaire but what do druids/rangers from the other continents look like. Any traditions like in korvaire?

Jenna Spitale

Back in the Provinces of Reidra article a commentor asked what would happen if a manifest zone to Dal Quor did exist and you replied, " it would be a boon for the Dreaming Dark, who could bring in all sorts of unpleasant things to help with their goals." My question is, What kind of things? Or alternatively, what could a quori physically present in the material plane do that it couldn't through a host?

Eric Christian Berg

I may be a bit late on this, but I've always wondered how you envision the towers of Sharn. I reference the 3e book extensively, but I still have trouble visualizing the interiors. Are there floors occupied by detached buildings or is it more like rooms in a conventional building with broad halls used like roads? Are they hollow with the structures clinging to the exterior walls and open to lower levels?

Mariamow

Hey Keith! Apologies for the lateness but would you at all be interested in doing a creature type breakdown? Something like 1 sentence for each type of, for example, undead - where you would expect to find them in the world (or in multiple areas, where they are most commonly found)?

Joseph Meehan

Probably a fuller article, and not my first question of the month, but I'd love a breakdown of some of the most important families in each house.
