We went from S2E17 to S3E5...am I missing something?

Stef Furness

So happy my volume was down low when opening that file! Then, in the midst of feeling concerned for your dropped mic, I realized it was karma! Glad shit's not broke lol.

Thanks for the warning! Just happened to check the comments before watching and you saved my ears

Theory: Reese's "father" was one of the ancients that created these replicators who returned to the Milky Way and continued his experiments.

Well, that comment is sure packed full of jam, but it appears you're getting your cosplay a bit twisted. Are you Ba'al, or are you jaffa?

That was always my assumption. That maybe he was lonely, in a way, as a lot of Ancients kind of kept to themselves after they left Atlantis. So maybe he went to that planet, was kind of a loner, and created Reese for company, and.. she didn't turn out quite right. (Which always reminds me of Dr Noonian Soong from Star Trek in a way, lol) And as for how they ended up in the Asgard's galaxy - it's possible an Asgardian ship landed there (Reese's planet) at some point way in the past and had some stowaways.

i know the replicator ark is repetitive or .. a replication.. heh, but i do enjoy this arc faaar more than the milkyway arc, the ending of this ark has one of my alltime favorite stargate episodes, (and also coolest episode name ooft) although another original main plot point would have been preferred for sure, this season is sure to be packed full of jam!

After watching this episode my theory was that one of the Ancient scientists that created the Asurans returned to the Milky Way when Atlantis was abandoned. He or she tried the experiments again much like Janus built a second time travel jumper that SG-1 found after Merlin had shut down his original experiment at Atlantis & created Reese who was flawed due to limited resources Also fun fact is Brad Wright expected SG-1 to end after season 5. He was just starting to develop Atlantis & Human form replicators were to be the main villain from the start. SG-1 got offered a 6th season (& 4 more subsequently) & they needed something for the season 6 mid season cliff hanger so the human form replicators were used then & were a big part of SG-1 season 8 despite just a few episodes, so when Atlantis came around the Wraith were created & The Asurans were pushed back till this episode in season 3 Had SG-1 eneded after season 5, not only would we have lost out on the good storylines & epieosdes the last 5 years had, but Atlantis would've been a really different show with no Wraith, or perhaps the Wraith showing up in later seasons

I think one of the most accepted fan theories, as others have said, is that: Yes, the Ancients did create the replicators, except not in the way we would think. The Milky Way replicators, the spider-block ones, were not the originals, the Pegasus replicators were the originals. When the Ancients abandoned Atlantis one of the scientists that worked on the replicators in Pegasus left Earth for another world, where he created the android Reese, incorporating the nanite technology used in the creation of the Pegasus replicators. She then created the spider-block form Milky Way Replicators, which later evolved independently back into human form. Basically the Pegasus replicators are the OGs, and the other Replicators were an accidental second generation that re-evolved on their own into human form. So as McKay said, not the same but related in a way; cousins if you will. The main difference being the Pegasus replicators weren't an accidental creation. They aren't simple power hungry replicating machines, they are purpose-made killing machines, with all the knowledge and power of the Ancients (pre-ascension), and they are ALL human-form, no silly spider-block peasants.

I think some of us were having an argument when the Reese episode was posted, but we had to get people to stop talking about future stuff due to spoilers. Anyway, those spoilers were from this episode. I can't remember who, but someone was saying THESE replicators messed up the lore about the Reese replicators, since the Reese replicators came first in the show but some of us were arguing (or trying to, spoiler-free) that in the in-universe timeline, no lore was messed up and that now I can say it: These replicators came first and there is a way for all of it to make sense timeline-wise. Since we can get in to it now - like others have already stated, I think an Ancient that worked on these replicators ended up going to Reese's planet after their exodus back to Earth. We know not all of the Ancients stayed on Earth and some went back through the Stargate to other places. So this Ancient guy went to the planet Reese was created on, maybe got lonely, or maybe out of scientific curiosity and created Reese, but obviously something went wrong. Maybe he wasn't very good, or maybe he didn't have enough materials, or who knows what (which is why Reese herself is more android-y than replicator-y). Either way, it ended badly with Reese creating the spider-form replicators. Now, since the spider-form replicators are also the ones the Asgardians were dealing with, I think it's possible that either the Ancient on the Reese planet was in contact with the Asgard anyway and they went to check on him after shit went crazy, or they visited that planet out of exploration as a coincidence and ended up with stowaways on their ship, which spread when they got back to their own galaxy, creating the Asgard enemy. That's how I personally view the timeline anyway, and I don't think there's any plotholes there. Could be wrong though. 🤷🏻‍♀️

ISeeTrees ofGreen

my theory is that all these instances of replicators are completely independent events and that theyre just a common design different cultures arrive at on their own accord so basically the stargate version of the cybermen also similar to carcinogenesis on earth where completely different species have evolved a crab like appearance

I agree that I do like the SGA replicator stuff more than the SG-1 replicator arc, personally. I'm sure others are the opposite. And looking around at the episode titles I'll agree that that episode title is a cool one for sure, lol.

Brent Justice

I like the idea like everyone else said that it was an Ancient who came over to the Ida Galaxy or Milky Way or whatever and made a new replicator there. It fits with their history since they did that sort of thing after they came back to Earth to escape the Wraith. I always thought that the Asurans should have been the main villain from the start, instead of the Wraith, it makes more sense in my mind. The Wraith should be a secondary villain, not the primary villain, IMO. I would have liked it if they reversed the story and it was the Asurans whom the Ancients were at war with for a hundred years, instead of the Wraith, to me that makes more sense from a technologically aligned war situation.

two days later and still no "double bubble" wtf ?

maybe the floppy disk got stuck in the floppy disk drive when rendering the video?

SpikesEcho

Why are there so many petulant, ungrateful, whiny, SGA people on FailWhale's patreon.....without fail, they speak. Aren't there mods to help with this? It's rude af

Nh05401
>>91031122

Its not really fair to say that when you remember, this is technically paid subscription content. Those people you call rude probably feel they aren't getting what they paid for. Also tbf inconsistent uploads aren't a new thing here lol.

Lady Beyond The Wall
>>91031122

No, there's no mods for Patreon. And seriously, it's not that big of a deal. There's not "so many" - 99.9% of the comments here are fine; no need to make a whole ass comment thread about it, especially when you could have just replied to the actual person you're referring to. It's kinda weird you didn't do that and instead just made another whiny comment like that person doesn't know you're talking about them. And it's not just "SGA people", lol.

Ditto. The asguardians were all over our galaxy. Could have run into Ancient decendants who's ships got infected. Plus the 4 great races thing. Asguardians might look pretty tastey and their home location isn't a secret. Sidequest question. Did we every get a real answer who created all those wierd grabby head antienty knowledge thingys? This episode got me thinking of the Tollans and other races who may have evolved sepately or decended directly from the Ancients. I don't know how long the ancients may have left those affor mentioned grabbys but they look hella old.

Nh05401 – Sorry to burst your bubble, Karen, but paying does not entitle you to assholery. And sorry to point out the obvious, but if you know Failwhale is consistently late with content, which I’m aware, then you also know he consistently delivers the content to you. Only late. But it will indeed arrive. So people petulantly poking him for the tardiness (the tardiness they should be well familiar with by now, and *choose to still subscribe to*), then they are simply choosing to be an impatient asshole about it. I pay as well, clearly, and I can address these people and call out the assholes all I want. Because I certainly don’t pay to see people being d*cks. Lady – Yes, there can be people modding on Patreon. Patreon just isn’t set up to have mods in an official way, but comments can be screened, and reactors can be told what to read and not read. And after reading dozens of comments, by multiple people, that are indeed *always* SGA people, without fail (tho I won’t doubt it’s in other fandoms as well), I can assure you it’s bad. Especially compared to other reactor’s patreon communities. Even reactors who are FAR worse with posting schedules than Failwhale – there still aren’t assholes prioritizing their assholery over the reactor’s mental health. They simply don’t subscribe any more.

Wow hey, friendly fire. I was just trying to understand everyone's point of view, I've never complained about late uploads.

Timothy Nikiforovs
>>91031122

Ok, there's basically a handful of people out of dozens that complain about late uploads. Bit of an overreaction don't you think? Just ignore them. Ranting isn't going to help.

Teth
>>90905683

That's a good point. I've never been the biggest fan of the replicators overall, but they did make them more interesting in SGA than SG-1.
