WIP 164 - Panel progression and why color (Patreon)
Content
Without going into too much detail on the panel itself to avoid spoilers, I wanted to show you the progression of the panel made by Carmine and also the "test" on what would work better - greyscale or color.
As usual with panel layouts, everything starts at a sketch of the panel to get an overview. This is the stage where changes are most likely as (of course) it's still pretty easy to change at this stage.
The next step is the lineart - very often this step is the most time consuming for an artist. Changes on these should be minimal. And, of course, once lineart is approved, we can proceed to shading or coloring.
As you can see above, I got a sample greyscale, which would be similar in style to what SSS currently is. However, especially in this one, there's quite a lot of background.
On the other hand, you have the same panel colored. With Elena's style, I am not so sure a color version would have been preferrable, but with Carmine's style, the color panel "clicks" more for me.
I hope you agree!
