Hey guys!  Work on episode 1.20, "White Russian", is going well.

This episode is a lot less complex than the last one.  It's a side quest featuring Kate's (optional) date with Kolya, the broody Russian guy she met in the skybar in the early part of Girls' Night Out.

It's fully plotted, and I'm currently building a prototype version in the game engine.  About the first half of the episode is now playable, and some of our lovely testers have given useful feedback on how to improve the scenes.

This week, my main effort will be continuing to build the prototype.  5 out of 11 scenes are currently working in the engine (some with placeholder text that needs punching up, and no artwork is yet implemented).  I'll get as much done as I can and report back in a week.

Very much looking forward to it. I think the side quest are really important for this game. Here's hoping for a quick development time.

Check out the podcast True Spies from Spyscape. Episodes of June 6-20, 2022 three parts Sexpionage. Part two is on the Russian spy, Anna Chapman, who infiltrated NYC a few years ago.

Two questions. Will you, in the future, go back and correct the issues still plaguing the last update? And, when are we gonna get the side story with the Thai business boys, where Kate gets measured and eventually works at that event she was hired for?

Any chance we will see the story from the other versions of the game put back in? Like the Glasgow missions and the university days? I still have no idea why they were cut out.

i am also looking for when "Kate" go to get her measurments. And why when i save to disk ( and on title bar of browser) is still version 1.13? I play 1.19 for patrons but this is confusing.

I have been wondering what game engine you use? The layout and style of the game is unique and I have been wanting to do some smaller projects in this sort of style.

I found a bug and couldn't log into Bitbucket. GNO-55026 Nice car "Love that car," murmurs. pops up with Lisa's image - looks like a little cut/paste booboo. Something I've never, ever, never done before. They call me Mozart for nothing (Mozart wrote his compositions in ink in one take). Oh, sorry I meant They don't call me ... opps.

I believe it's a Twine 2 engine game. I haven't developed a game in Twine 2, but I have tinkered around, and I would bet that in order to do a lot of what they're doing, they have a lot of custom javascript code in there.

I hope it makes up for the previous update.

Yes, there are actually a number of scenes I want to improve. I feel like the whole game is basically a first draft at the moment – in the future I'd like to carve out some time just for adding in new branches and edits to older scenes to make them better and to increase replayability by adding in new choices.

Booth Babe is the third planned side quest (White Russian is the first). The measuring scene will come up before Booth Babe

Sorry about the version number thing! It's to make new episodes compatible with your save games. When we make a version that breaks old saves, I'll change the title to something less confusing.

University yes! I don't think the Glasgow missions make as much sense given the changed mission briefing, but some aspects of the gameplay experience will make it into future episodes.

Even though it’s probably a long way off, I can’t wait to play a reworked/second draft version. This game is damn near perfect for a first draft. Imagine how much better it will be after a bit of tweaking. 🙂

Yeah, it's mainly Twine! (Well, actually Twee – Twine is the app people commonly use to start making games in Twee). I learned how to use Twine from this YouTube tutorial: https://youtu.be/sKdAjohLUtk Later, we outgrew Twine, and the dev environment is now Visual Studio Code, compiled using Tweego, set up like in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sy2lye_3wpg Our illustrator lovely Victoria designed the new UI in Illustrator, and we hired an agency to recreate it using CSS and JavaScript. Wouldn't have been able to do that without your financial support guys 🥰 well we wouldn't be able to do anything, you guys make Female Agent

Thanks for answer Crush, so far it's now require only making new folders for saves (played all available versions😀), compatibility is more important.

To be honest, I preferred the original mission. I was a player back then and left when I ran out of content. I came back and found the plot completely different. Why was it changed, and all the stuff cut out?

So the hardest thing to sell narratively was always why they'd send an undercover *officer* (instead of just recruiting a hooker, which is what they'd actually do). We were planning to add some kind of personal trauma into the Lifepath, giving Kate more motivation to accept the mission, but since we're bypassing the Lifepath for now we changed the briefing from "go undercover as a prostitute" to "go undercover topless". It just felt a lot easier to sell. So it started as a compromise, but I actually think it turned out better, more believable. It also lets us do a bit more drama with the escalating demands of Kate's undercover role, that "slippery slope" kind of dynamic you see in some undercover stories like Donnie Brasco or Sleeping Dogs...how far will the agent go to keep their cover? 😮
