This deals with something that has been quietly annoying me for a while: every time I do a vehicle guide and I say "Mobility is really hard to quantify in CM". Well, now I've come up with something to score all the vehicles against. It's not perfect (it's really not perfect), but it's better than nothing and the initial wave of tests look like they give a solid indicator of relative performance that should help contextualise things.

I guess it also means I can keep a scoreboard. Currently the BMP-3M has the #1 spot with 448 points... though the M1A2 SEP Abrams from Black Sea is literally breathing down its neck at 449 and we all know how that goes for the BMP-3.

In other news, this week I've finished off what turned out to be the final CMPE Baltic Shield Campaign video. Mission 3 wasn't really the right format for a whole video so I folded it in to Mission 4. Which has the most ridiculous preparatory bombardment I have ever seen in CM.

Really: The briefing does call the risk out, so it's not a spoiler if any of you are also getting stuck into the campaign.

So you all have that thrilling conclusion to look forward to at some point.

I still have the 5th editor video up my sleeve for next week, so I'm spending the rest of this week doing some map making which you will all hear about in due course ;)

That's about it then! Both Marine Campaign polls look like they're pushing me to take the direct approach and storm the Homs Gap- though I've ballsed up the YT one by getting the descriptors the wrong way round. Honest to God, Patreon is so much easier to work with for that kind of thing!

Combat Mission Basics: Quantifying Vehicle Performance

First of all, that's a prep bombardment? Wow. I saw that and thought it was a moor amidst a downpour of acid rain. Anyway, I love the UH Vehicle Testing Yard. Brilliant idea with lots of information.

Yep. BM30 rockets. 600+ bomblets per cluster warhead, or unitary thermobarics, which aren't in the shot because they white out the screen. Also, thanks! Hopefully the vehicle course will prove useful

BM30?? I hope it was a BIG map. Ouch!

Great idea with the vehicle tests - gotta love anything that results in a spreadsheet. One question though - for the slalom did you have to plot the course for each vehicle?

UsuallyHaplessVideos

Yes. That way every vehicle is following the same commands. I guess I could make the walls higher so tanks can't just bulldoze through them, make a kind of maze full of sharp corners and let the AI figure it out but... I don't expect that to end well.

Would you please share a link here to the Baltic Shield campaign when it comes out?

UsuallyHaplessVideos

Will do. It'll be up on here before it goes public, but the exact timing is in someone else's court

I’d be interested in seeing the difference between an M4 with HVSS and without.
