I know it's supposed to be a War Room episode this time round, but having failed to make any headway on the original topic (nuclear weapons), I switched over to something else (involving flying bananas*). That cost me a couple of days in the middle of the week and although the script is about done, it's going to need a few more days to complete and will absolutely benefit from cooking a bit longer.

So it made sense to make a quick-format video to slot in for this week and push the War Room back until next Friday in a way that should hopefully give me a good chunk of breathing space to get ahead of the curve and get away from hand-to-mouth content creation, as it were.

And what I decided to do was dig out the Drop Zone P scenario from Final Blitzkrieg that I had converted over to Black Sea. It's been a while since I did anything with that particular project, which means that I've lost the super-familiarity you get when you look at all the insides of a scenario and, while I had a good idea of what was going on, I also had a pretty good time trying to make the whole thing work.

The only pain was that we're coming off Halloween and going into the weekend preceding Bonfire Night over here in the UK and there were some people letting fireworks off and provoking all the dogs on the street, but I don't think that made it into the audio as much as I feared at the time.

Regardless, it's an interesting battle that may or may not be balanced, it's got some entertaining moments and good old mistakes on my part and I think it shines a light on some of the differences between WW2 and more modern combat. Enjoy!

*No, really.

I always love these comparisons between the WW2 and modern titles. Good stuff!

Plus I like to think that random firework activity adds to the immersion of my wargaming

Ha! True. The dog trying to compete with the fireworks, not so much though.

It's fascinating to see this being noticeably more difficult with the modern kit

I thought you were gonna be toast after the BMP 3's evaded early schwacking by the Javelins. I think I know what the flying bananas are. USA doesn't fly them anymore.

I think you hit the nail on the head, Hapless, when mentioning the differences in dispersion between WWII and modern combat. That BMP-3 with a 100mm air burst HE round said it all.

around 48:30, The rocker (little bit on the bottom) is for Staff Sergeant (E-6) which is typical a squad leader in the US Army and a Platoon Sergeant in the USMC. Don't get me started on Commonwealth Ranks, they don't really make sense to me, I met an Australian Airforce Corporal who had a decade and a half time in service.
