A pretty straightforward mission really, one of those where you suddenly realise you hit the tipping point about ten minutes earlier. It's also a good example of how the urban environment makes it difficult to fight: the way the terrain constricts your options, the way it's difficult to close with and destroy the enemy, the way that HE chuckers like tanks, missiles and rockets are so important.

Also, the way that Technicals are hilariously ineffectual... you'll see.

With that out of the way, there's a unit guide up next. I've gone for the BMP-2: guess I'm working through the BMP series backwards. It's one of those vehicles that is almost an afterthought in Shock Force and Black Sea. I don't get worried when I see the enemy has BMPs because they're so horrifically vulnerable any threat they pose is the result of me screwing up, not the vehicle's technical characteristics.

But there are still tens of thousands of them out there (though that number has been decreasing over the last few years) and although it's arguably obsolete, it's still a major piece of kit.

Beyond that lies the final mission of the Marine campaign, where it looks like we're back to a Marine infantry fight. Should be fun!

As for the Winter Turn-by-Turn: I think the map is about there and I've slotted some forces in for both sides. I just need to nail down how balanced those forces are (perhaps even whether they should be balanced at all) and then we should be ready to go.

Hopefully, I should have a couple of hundred units to rename in the Adopt a Pixeltruppen Initiative ;)

So, I’m confused about something. In the earlier mission of this campaign, the marines had naval gun support. I don’t see that as an artillery option in the scenario editor. And yes, I have all the modules.

Well, that’s just cheating. 😛 That was my first guess, but I wanted to be sure.

Yeah. I mean, NGS should be a bit different, but at the same time I can get why BFC didn't make a specific asset for such a rare thing

Regarding the BMP video, I have found that the ATGM’s on the -2M is a pretty significant threat to my Americans in Black Sea.

Yep. Quad AT-14s are nothing to joke about. Providing the gunner ever spots anything

They’re pretty good when massed in the defense. An Abrams platoon might knock out most of a company in under a minute, but the survivor can be punishing.

I recall how much I hated this scenario. I chose to work my way up the street by occupying both the school and mosque blocks. I would have mutual support and either block could be a base of fire for the other team. In my case it meant I didn't have as much firepower to bring against the annoying bastards on the balconies and roofs at the northern map edge. The T90's got into the school block from the north.
