Modern Infantry Firepower came out on top this time- it was so far ahead and I was a bit bored last night so I sneakily put the Cold War's US Heavy Mech through their paces. It's good fun because they just blow the other Cold War squads out of the water at close range, but are reduced to a mild patter of M60 fire once they get past 300m.

As for this week, Limbo and I are 15 turns or so into the Winter Turn-by-Turn- that requires a specific setup for the recording program and I try to avoid changing it if I don't have to- after a couple of times forgetting to change the settings back and recording turns without the mouse cursor or any mic audio I'm a little paranoid about it.

So I'm aiming at something with the bare minimum of filming required... it might be a good time to tackle the Battle vs Assault Rifle topic.

(I've just realised that man on the right has been cut in half and stitched together...)In other news... the Winter Turn-by-Turn is the main effort right now. I will actually remember after this post to put up THE LIST, so you can all see where you ended up (some of you have already been subject to the red pen of doom).

That just leaves us with the 100th Poll! That's a milestone as far as I'm concerned, even though it might be better to wait for Poll 104 because that would be two years instead of something arbitarily metric. Anyway, we're back round to WW2 with a choice between Arty/CAS Demo and Infantry Firepower.

Ben K fanfic! His Persian predicament reads like a lost chapter to Red Storm Rising!

Ben Kerry

My big inspiration was actually John F Antal (“Proud Legion” and “Infantry Combat, the rifle platoon”) and a bit of Ralph Peters. Read a lot of Clancy but I never read Red Storm Rising actually. Also read a bit from Harold Coyle’s Sword Point. I actually intentionally tried to avoid Clancyism, namely compulsively mentioning weapon systems. I tried to just cut the naming and calibers down unless they have specific properties that directly affect the outcomes, or they are very well known. (Or the character is familiar with the systems)
