The last one! A very straightforward final run for the Platoon Patrol that pans out almost exactly like you might expect.

Bonus points for Bravo turning up for a second appearance and not being relegated to a weird one off that only the Nyalas got to tackle.

I'm wondering about CM3 and IFV targeting with automatic cannon fire. Do you think there needs to be a new target command(or two) for just this sort of armament? Only an issue with modern combat, but it does seem CM2 IFV gunners are a bit heavy on the cannon trigger.

I've always suspected that the burst length is the problem and that it's coded quite specifically around the Bradley and BMP-2 that came with vanilla Shock Force. Both of them have a lot more ammo than some of the later canon-armed IFVs. Either BFC didn't consider changing it, it was a pain to change or they didn't think it was worth the effort.

There need a lot more different forms of targeting commands to show the many many different tactics real life forces can employ. In fact I'd much prefer a "Patrol" style system in old SPI wargame regarding turn to turn tactical combat

I don't think CMx2 was ever ready to portray modern combat in fact. It was never an accurate presentation I'd even argue. Task organization is exceedingly common in real life militaries. (Also the game has the inherent problem of instant C2 that makes combat almost always too lethal than real life scenarios)

CM's one minute WEGO system is very similar to Sniper/Patrol's simultaneous movement & combat system. There's also order delays as well as mechanisms in place to simulate loss of communication with HQ. Borg spotting is no longer a thing either. At the small unit tactical level, leadership is very local and could be achieved vocally or visually. I do think better firing options would be good. Maybe 'recon fire' or similar like a variant of area fire but with more judicious use of ammo. Maybe a Fire Discipline set of fire commands...

I sometimes feel one minute WEGO simply can't capture the kind of rapid decision making more professional armies in modern age are capable of. I definitely think recon fire or at least some way to dictate units to use what ammo is needed. Also some sort of "general SOP" that can be assigned to units to modify their behaviors would definitely help. Nice to hear you referencing Sniper/Patrol (I've actually never played it) Also I think the building mechanic is a bit too simplistic (units can conceal themselves from windows/openings), breaches are both harder and easier to create, and basements exist. Earthworks are not really well portrayed either I think. Maybe some sort of field telephone mechanic for WW2 title also. Lastly, I always wanted to see some sort of "battlelab" like system where you can just create "customized" formations down to how many men are in one team to test out "optimum" OOBs. With LLM maybe we can finally have chain of command with AI subordinates...

Sounds like good ideas to me.
