24/6/22 Update (Patreon)

War Room 07 is almost done- just need to wrap up the script before recording and finding the imagery. I also probably need to animate a map for this one, which should be fun.On the other side of that, I eventually plumped for the Scottish Corridor. All cards on the table, I did play the first couple of missions when it came out, but that was a literal decade ago and I certainly don't remember the first mission being quite so tough. Should be fun! There's a photo of my notes from the first battle up above (with the ending blurred out- no spoilers, if you can actually read my writing). These are the notes I use to write the script and then use as a reference to grab the footage later. I've gone through a couple of notebooks since starting making CM videos, plus an A4 pad or two.On a practical note for choosing a CMBN campaign to do next- some of you may have noticed that CMCW has gotten a little update and now has some beta tournament functionality. This was something Slitherine wanted to integrate before Normandy came to Steam, so I'm somewhat positioning myself for that. The other image is a kind of time-distance chart. Chap and I are having a rematch- we've increased the size to medium and are playing over a larger map (of a real world location no less). Something I do to help plan things out is set the same battle up in hotseat mode and send vehicles from each side along likely routes as fast as possible to guage who can get where and how fast. This is the first time I've put it on a map, which really helps visualise it and aids the planning process. As you can hopefully see, Blue (me this time) has a slightly harder deployment zone exit and might not be able to grab as much ground, but fighting is likley to develop in the centre of the village or in the east first. I'm extrapolating from the last video's lessons learned, so we'll see if I do better this time. Or at least, not as bad!
