Hey Everyone! I just updated the RoboTortoise to now includes 3 different Multicolor 3mf files! I understand that the print times and filament use for this fella can be quite a bit, so I thought it would be useful to include some more efficient options in addition to the full 4-color version. SO! The download now includes these three multicolor options...4-Color:  The full “deluxe” print color scheme.   3-Color:  Save on some print time and filament use. Still very detailed coloring.  2-Color: Save even more print time and filament. A bit less detailed coloring, but still very fun!  The 2-color option would be great for people with IDEX printers! Though keep in mind that these 3MF files are not compatible with Cura. If you use Cura for your IDEX machine, I would check to see if there are printer profiles available for your machine in PrusaSlicer, Bambu Studio, or Orca Slicer.  I also made a few small updates to improve some of the steeper overhangs. Redownload it now to get this latest version! I love this so much need to print when I get home 🏡

Jack Light

I’m at 82% on the 4 color with 9 hours to go, I got nervous when I got the Patreon notification 🤣

Mike Sprague

Thank you! I was looking at a 2.5day print 😅

EvilSnoopy

How long did your 4 color print take? 😅

Jerazmus

Love this. Hopefully someday soon you will make a sweet owl!!!

Brandon Ryan

I love this one and will definitely be doing them in Optimus prime and bumblebee color combos 😁

LuckySpoon

I'm not nearly that far into it but still... same lol

Jesse Mejia

Thank I like having options

Janelle Parsons

This is epic, my first thought was c3po and r2d2 themes!

Crissy

thank you for the 2 color for us IDEX printers!!!

Brandon Ryan

And so it begins, 2 on the build plate, 4 colors at 63 hrs 😁

I’m half way through printing the original release looks great so far despite the very long print time….

Anyone having problems with the heads breaking loose? 77% into the print and all heads are wobbling. Just curious because I used the supplied profile scaled to 70%, all models had wobbly heads so it failed the whole plate.

Terrance Mullen

Hey, were you able to get the issue with the head resolved?

David Long

I never got a response so I haven't tried printing it again. I lost 30hrs and filament on that plate.

matmire_makes

So sorry, I missed this comment. My testers and I never had ran into this particular issue. Have you by chance tried v04? That one has a couple of extra pre-supports in the neck, that were missed in the exports of the earlier versions. That could help secure them better. BTW, the 3MFs included should only be used for the color painting information. They do not import any other printer settings. You would still need to set your profile. Are you printing on a Bambu? If you have an enclosed model and are using one of the hot build plates, make sure you are either propping the top open, or leaving the door slightly open. Too hot chamber temperatures can cause curling, which could contribute to the nozzle knocking against the print. Also, to that end, I would suggest an infill pattern like gyroid, 3d honeycomb, or crosshatch. Those are non-interference infills that avoid nozzle collision. Maybe try that out with one single color print to see if it takes care of the issue for you.

David Long

I printed the first release one. It was on a Bambu A1 at 70% using filament that was calibrated. I'll try the revisions.

Allie Kat

Do you need to print with supports? I’m having an issue getting supports out of the back leg area😞😂

matmire_makes

Nope, you shouldn’t need to generate supports for any of my articulated designs.

Wendell Tackett Jr

Love this turtle. I did the four color print, scaled up to 150%. I have an issue with printing anything 100%. It came out flawlessly, no issues whatsoever. And as the creator states, no supports needed.

springwinterrain

I'm super new to 3d printing, so I'm still learning. I just printed this over the weekend at 85% on a P1S, four color print. I just noticed on the upper part of the shell on the darker lines under/between the armor they not there, the armor color bled over to the next portion of the armor, would that be over-extrusion? It's only between the right and left side armor parts. It looks similar to the photo on etsy seller mymodernforge's listing. I'm pretty happy with the print overall, but I'd like to solve it for the next attempt.

matmire_makes

I'm not entirely sure what you are describing. Maybe send me some pictures so that I can get a better idea. help@matmiremakes.com

Love the look of this guy, scaled down to 60% and it prints great but the back legs can be pulled out/off a bit easy ( with a bit of persuasion they will reattach but can then be pulled off again). Is this because of the size? Would printing it larger give the rear leg joints more purchase and therefore prevent removal? Cheers

matmire_makes

Hmm, it could be due to the small size. The smaller you go, any variations in the tolerances can have a more exaggerated effect on the functionality. 60% is pretty small, though I have had success around that size. Machine calibration as well as Filament type/flow/etc can have an effect on tolerances. I'd imagine printing bigger should help.

Allen Vincent

Cheers, printed him at full size now and no issues. Would love to see a mini robot series, they're so cool! Bartholomew the Bat, Annabelle the Axolotl and Bruce the Great White are really popular with my customers, your items are my favourite to print!
