Hi Everyone!Introducing the new Subscriber Exclusive MMMini Sloth!! I couldn't resist doing a Sloth along with a bit of holiday styling. The hooked hands can make them great as tree ornaments, stocking decorations, etc. Lots of possibilities!

This mini is 100% print-in-place, and requires no supports.  Its a quick and easy print that scales down very well.  I've included both regular and keychain versions.  I did 3 versions of the keychain since each hand could be a keychain loop. There is one with closed loops on all limbs, the front hands only, and the feet only. I think I like the "Keychain_Rear" version the most since you can use the feet for the keychain and the hands as hanging hooks. :)

There are also a pre-painted 3MF for those who want to print it in multicolor! Printing the Santa Hat version is a little more complex since most people are limited by 4-slot multicolor printers, but you can easily get a 5th color to print the hat in red by performing a filament swap just after the eye mask finishes. There is more info on this in the PDF guide, included in the download.

Check out a little preview video HERE.

I hope you like it!MattPictured Prints use the following filaments***(reference the numbered prints in last image of the gallery)

love them! is it possible to have a very short nail version? We have had issues with long nails like this on keychains catching on peoples pockets.

matmire_makes

On the "Keychain_all" version, each claw is a closed circle. There are no open hooks on that one, so it shouldn't catch pockets. :)

Perfect! I was just about to look for a brown-colored item to print so I didn't have to change my filament. This is five colors, then?

So cute, is there a tree in the makings for them to hang from??

Love!!! I'm working on Christmas presents for the kids in my family. I am trying to do all minis - is this and the racoon the only minis with santa hats?

LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!! I think we need a monkey next for the bigs!!

Hello

Can I ask how you get the gradient filiment versions looking so good? Everytime I try a rainbow it just all ends up being flat with mostly 1 color used before the print is done.

There’s a few factors. Color transition time. A lot of the Ziro gradient filaments I use have faster color transitions. Many filament listings say how many grams it takes for the color shifts, so you can sort of predict it with that. How big the print is or how many copies you have on the plate, so that you’re using more of that filament. If you have a gradient that you know is a slow transition, add another copy of the model or some other models that might look good in that color. Last, is a bit of luck. Sometimes the transitions work out great and other times they weren’t what I expected at all. :)

I also find for smaller ones like the minis there are some 3 color simultaneous filaments that wont give you a striped gradient but a pleasant matte finish version of what a silk flip-color will do(ziro and isanmate have them). If you do 10 on a plate you can rotate them around a little in position and they'll all be a little different, but not with 'stripes' of any one color. Tricky to find uses for it sometimes but for these it works. On flat out rainbow stripe semi trans candy full on 8yo girl sparkles, I did a pair of big alicorn rainbow dragons for my daughters(their choice) but physically trimmed some colors down in situ off the roll(sometimes in 3' lengths) as it progressed to make sure pink or purple 'happened' on the model, especially when it has a lot of color use low and narrow wings high. That way it's not all lovely lavender and blues and reds and then the entire 1/2 of the wings finish in yellow...
