Printing Info:

MMMini Triceratops:  Includes regular and keychain versions. Print-in-Place. No supports needed.

Multicolor 3MF files! (Works with PrusaSlicer, Bambu Studio, and Orca based slicers)- Generally, when using Orca-based slicers for non-bambu printers, you will want to use File > Import rather than “Open Project”.  Then just set the filament slot colors and enter the recommended print settings listed here.

10% Infill (I recommend Gyroid, Crosshatch or 3D Honeycomb)

3 Walls. (Assuming 0.4mm nozzle. Adjust wall count to account for alternate nozzle sizes)

This should generally scale down to about 50% with full articulation, on a well calibrated printer. Your mileage may vary.

Dang it, I just finished my Triceratops design that I made because of the lack of good options online... And posted it on MakerWorld *this morning *. 😂

GATO

I love it!

CuratedAwesome

The eyes are almost identical, too. That's so weird.

Kurtis Wright

I can decided which Triceratops I like more the old one or the new one. Im leaning towards the new one.

PrintStudio7

Baggy15

Duff

That is adorable. I look forward to making it!

MarktheSpot3D

Printed and came out beautiful as usual! Great model once again!!

Anne Kate

I’ve already printed 4 of them and they are adorable. One of my favorites!

Ian Holloway

Love it! What is with the mouth? Big lips or biting on something? I hope you have plans to release many more mini dinos.

matmire_makes

It's supposed to be it's beak. Many plant eating dinos had beaks instead of lips.

Mike M

Very cute

I have just started to print the triceratops and was wondering (because I am new at printing) about wall strength, I have read so many posts saying that a lot of people do 4 or 5 walls, is that over the top? I am a new Patreon member and LOVE your models!!

matmire_makes

Assuming this is for a standard 0.4mm nozzle, I would say 4 or 5 walls is not necessary in most cases. I think 3 walls is the sweet spot between print time and strength. I find 2 walls too fragile, but 3 has generally been plenty strong. More walls than that will make it stronger, but that strength is largely going into areas that often don't really need it. If that makes sense. Take this Triceratops as an example... The loops of the joint links are already printing solid at 3 walls. So all you get out of those extra walls would be thicker body sections, but those areas aren't really in danger of breaking anyways. I can only speak for my own designs, but when there are odd circumstances where 3 walls isn't enough for a specific body part, I add structures inside the part to create internal strengthening walls. Sort of like a giving that part a skeleton. That way 3 walls will still work for the model overall. That said, it's never a bad idea to stress test your prints, and choose a wall count that you feel comfortable with. Hope that helps!

Lori

Your explanation makes perfect sense, I have been printing your models with the Bambu file you have provided without changing anything I just wanted to make sure that I should not be doing more. I have found your mini's some of the best I have every printed and have bought most previous releases, looking forward to many more!! Thank you so much for taking the time to respond it is much appreciated.
