Hi all! This month's Exclusive design is two variants on the Tiger!  The Roaring Tiger and Sabre-Tooth Tiger!  I couldn't resist sculpting a new ferocious face for the tiger, and it's giant toothed ancestor.  Since nobody knows what the fur patterning looked like on Saber-Tooth Tigers, this model doesn't have the stripes.  I made two new pre-painted .3mf files for these variants.  Of note, this sculpt did require a pre-support inside the mouth to help those teeth print properly.  Here is a video showing how to best remove that pre-support. Also, the Bonus Roaring Tiger Magnets are also posted and ready to go.  This includes both tigers in standard and captive magnet versions.Cheers!Matt

3D PRINTING SETTINGS

Print-In-Place.  Pre-supported.  No additional supports needed.  Several joints must be wiggled and "cracked" free in order to articulate them.  Be Extra careful with brittle filaments, like silks

10-20% Infill.

3 Walls if using a 0.4mm nozzle. <--This is very important!

.3mf File Included!  This file works in both PrusaSlicer and Bambu Studio.  It includes the painted model, but you must still edit the print settings to match your machine, filament, and the above recommendations.

Please watch this Video on the best way to free up the joints (demo'd on the Bunny model)! This has been test printed as low as 65% with full articulation, on a well calibrated printer.  YMMV3D PRINTING SETTINGS - Magnets- 0.16mm layer height- 3 walls with a 0.4mm nozzle (could do 2 walls with a larger nozzle.)- 10% Lightning infill (lightning infill is great for these because it keeps the weight down and only creates infill where needed. Keeping the weight down helps the magnets be more effective.)- 5-6 bottom layers (gives a little extra strength to the magnet attachment area.)- If your printer struggles with bridging, you may need to add support inside the magnet slot.  Give it a try without and see how it goes.*While it may be possible to safely drop the magnets in without pausing the print, if you are using a faster printer or printing many magnets at once... it would be best to add a pause to your print.  I suggest pausing close to the layer where the magnet slot is nearly done, but not covered.  This is fairly easy to do in most cases, but be aware that some printers do not support this option via gcode, and must be paused manually.  Please research your printer and slicer if you are unsure how to do this.  To add a pause to prints in Cura, follow this Guide.  To add a pause to prints in Bambu Studio and Prusa Slicer, follow this Guide.*NOTE, be cautious when using steel nozzles, the magnets may want to grab hold of them.  I did not find this to be a problem when using a magnetic bed surface in tandem with the steel nozzle.

How long is the multicolor version take to print on your printer? I’m curious to see if mine prints the same speed as yours or not.

matmire_makes

The full striped tiger with all four colors is around 2 days on my X1C. The saber tooth is much faster since it doesn’t have the stripes. I think that one was about a day.

Worked Wood

I printed 3 of the first Tigers on my X1C in two days also. I’d print as many as you can get on the bed. Same amount of poop, so technically less waste.

Becky Flippin

I agree! Going from 1 to 3 didn't add that much time as the majority of time is spent on filament changes, and a lot less waste.

Zombie Saint

Oh that's fire 🔥 can't wait to get home from work now.

This is so cool! I'm planning to do a bunch of LSU colors with purple and gold! I'm hoping you have a lion planned to release at some point soon! All the lions I've found online are cool, but overdone. None like your designs!

DivMindDesigns

Please do a Panther next. I can’t find a decent one anywhere. It’s my son’s school mascot and he wants to print keychains for his friends.

these are great and i love all the updates lately! would it be possible to get the non roaring head on the body without stripes?

Sketching The Beast

matmire_makes

Yup! They are coming out of the vault this month for purchase! I'll likely be posting them in the next few days. Just very busy at the moment. :)

David Long

What were your settings? I did 4 at 4 colors and it took almost 5 days.

Courtney Collins

Will these be available again? I appreciate you!

matmire_makes

They are available now. Head to the “Hub” post’s “Vault- purchase past exclusives” section and you’ll find the link in that list. Cheers!
