Hey Everyone!  I'm excited to share my new Tree Frog design!  I've been wanting to do a frog for a while, so I'm glad it's finally here!  I couldn't decide which style of eyes I liked better, and since real frogs have both vertical and horizontal pupil slits, I'm including both options.  This model also supports drop-in magnets that you place in cavities in it's feet and body while it's printing.  This creates all kinds of fun posing and display opportunities!  Here is a little Demo Video.I made a guide for inserting the magnets HERE.  The feet use 5x2mm magnets and the body uses the same 10x2.6mm magnets as the Bonus fridge magnets. Cheers!MattPictured Models are printed in...iSANMATE Yellow/Green Matte Gradient***iSANMATE Blue/Green Matte Gradient***CookieCad Mermaid***Smaller peach/green ones are Creality Rainbow***

This looks great! Can’t wait to print it!!

Reed Nelson

Why not both? Id make a hypno tree frog lol

3DifiedByAiden

would it be possible to do all the magnet holes the same as the bonus magnets ?

matmire_makes

No unfortunately, these were the biggest magnets that would fit in the space available. In order to make them fit the bonus magnets, the hands would have to be huge.

Nick Clark

the bonus magnet link posted above does not work maybe its just for me but just giving a heads up.

CWP 3D

Even with your painting tutorial, there are an awful lot of parts to the eyes to get them colored correctly. is there any plans to just upload colored 3mf files?

Todd Sipala

I’m in love. Wow great job. I’m excited to use the auto pause to drop the magnets in. Never did that before. 👍🏼👏🏼🥰

ScandiHåndverk

FYI rattlesnakes and frogs make great friends.. 😆

Michael Hurst

Just pulled one of the printer and it’s perfect. Started another 3 right away. You should do a poison dart frog some time

Daphne Walker

Okay, i glued in the magnets to keep them from coming out but my hotend keeps pulling them out even when glue is set. What can i do to stop this?

matmire_makes

Hmm, I have a magnetic sheet bed, and that helps keep them down for me. A brass nozzle would probably help too, if you are using steel. Not sure which glue type you're using, but if liquid super-glue maybe a gel super-glue would surround the magnets a bit more. Sorry, I can't think of another solution at the moment.

Daphne Walker

Thank you 😊. I will try and print on my ender3 with the magnetic bed. Was printing on my neo, which has a glass bed so nothing to keep them down.

Kayla

This frog printed perfectly! Thank you for the great designs!!

Ranger Blanz

I just recently joined and I must say that your models are awesome! Great work on the articulation on all of them. And the tree frog turned out perfect. Thanks!

Chris Griffin

They look amazing and what a great idea with magnets. cant wait to print just gutted i cant find them filaments in uk.

matmire_makes

I could be wrong, but I do believe iSanmate is looking to bring these filaments to the UK at some point.

Bellia Wheeless

I love it so much! I've had a ton of requests for magnets in the bearded dragons and geckos. Maybe someday in the future you can work on those.

Darknynja

Genius idea using the magnets inside the model.

Darknynja

If that is iSanmate filament, how did you get the gradient so nice on such a small print? In my experience the transitions are way too far apart to show both colors in small models. Thats why it's been a while since I've purchased any from them. Maybe they changed it. Obviously, they did change to fast transition. I just looked on Amazon.

matmire_makes

These are somewhat newer releases. They seem to have a pretty fast transition. I also printed both heads with each one, and the purge from the multicolor eyes would accelerate the transitions a bit too. Each one used 90grams of their respective isanmate roll, so I’d guess the full transition cycle is about 100grams.

Darknynja

The magnet idea is great. But I'm worried about my nozzle being hardened steel. In the past I've had issues with it pulling the magnets out. I would almost like to see a version with external holes for magnets to be added after the print is complete. I'm not sure why my comments keep disappearing.

Sarah Scarne

Yessss! Been waiting for some frogs! Thanks Matt! I love them so much!

Sarah Scarne

How many walls do you recommend for 0.2mm nozzle?

matmire_makes

Oh, I’ve never used a 0.2! That’s small! I guess the equivalent to 3 @ 0.4mm would be 6 walls, but that seems like a lot. I guess experiment and see how strong they end up being.

Sarah Scarne

I tend to print tiny haha. Thank you! As soon as I fix my AMS im printing the froggos with some different proto pastas ill share when theyre done!

Bradley Miller

the link you have for the 10x2.6 magnet is for a 10x2.3. which size would be correct?

matmire_makes

Those actually are 2.6mm, the listing incorrectly says they are 2.3mm. I’ve purchased them several times and they have always measured 2.6mm. It’s not a big deal either way, though. 2.3mm will work fine too.

matmire_makes

I found another listing that states 2.6mm. I’ve ordered some, and once I can confirm that they are the right size, I’ll update the link.

Eric

Awesome!! Any tips for how to orient the polarity of the magnets?

matmire_makes

Not in particular. I mostly just tried to orient them in the same polarity. I just slide the magnets off of a stack one at a time, and place the same side down each time.

Bradley Miller

ok gotcha, you're designed to 2.6mm. just wanted to make sure it wasn't a typo in the opposite direction.

Eric

Makes sense. Thank you. I’ve already printed one, came out great. This is an absolutely fantastic model. Bravo, very well done.

Chris (CAV217)

Anyone have issues with the back legs? I scaled the print to 60%, printed 2 frogs, one of the frogs rear legs fall out.

R&B Creations

I didn't think of that! I'm about to test it on my Bambu! Lol

Lochan Kalicharan

Thanks for the external magnet version, Mat! My hot end picked them right up when tried the first version. 🤣

Darknynja

Did you test it? Im really curious how my X1C would do with the steel nozzle.

matmire_makes

I’ve dropped magnets in on my X1C dozens of times with this frog and the fridge magnets. The steel nozzle never pulled up the magnets for me. The magnetic bed held them down just fine.

matmire_makes

Also, there is an external magnet version now too. If you prefer.

Darknynja

Thank you for the reassurance. I've done it before on my Prusas and Creality printers but wanted to make sure on the Bambu.

matmire_makes

I’d just make sure to set the pause on the last possible layer before the cavities cover over. That way you’re minimizing the chance of any contact between the nozzle and the magnet.

sarina albrecht

Just got my tree frog off printer he's fantastic!!

Antonia Hernandez

Beautiful!!! He remind me the Puertorrican coqui

Fresh Start Rescue Inc

How the heck can you paint those eyes ? lol i can’t see good enough

Jordan and Enya Crane

If you print the tree frog at 83%, the body magnets that fit are 8x2mm and the feet magnets are 4x2mm.

Rhonda Buchner

What pink filament did you use for the eyes? I’m really struggling to find a bright pink like that in matte PLA. Curious about the orange too. Thank you!

matmire_makes

I don’t remember for sure, but the pink might be Cookiecad pink ombre which is a gradient. Overture sakura pink is a pretty nice matte pink. Sorry, I don’t remember what the orange was either. It might be Bambi basic orange.

Rhonda Buchner

Thank you, that helps! I will check those out! 🙂
