Can Monarchs Commit Crimes? (1648 to 1649)

The English Civil War, *~*POLITICS*~*, and the Trial of Charles I of England.

Charles I has been on my hit list since before the YouTube channel even existed.  I definitely over-researched, draft 1 of this video was literally over 2 hours long, so it's a Christmas miracle this video even exists.  But I'm really happy with it.  And I also somehow avoided spending 30 minutes talking about the English Civil War, which I think counts as a second Christmas miracle.

The entire point of doing this video is to set up THE TRIAL OF CHARLES I, which is already researched and (mostly) written.  Expect to see that some time in January.  The trial is... a lot of fun, it should be a good video.

Please have a restful and restorative holiday, be good to one another, and I'll see you all in 2020.  :)

Wow, this is beyond amazing. I knew almost nothing about Cromwell, Charles 1 and the Civil War. I’m looking forward to the next video...

Luca Schneider

Merry Christmas everyone and I'll see you again in 2020 Historia Civilis. It has been a great honour to follow you through this decade. :)

Dru Dobbie-Taylor

Is there just a part 2 video? The way you set it up makes it feel like it's going to be a series...

Dru Dobbie-Taylor

I rekon you could have made the English Civil War interesting

Liam Pender

while the reforms were sorely needed as a Irishman I want to quickly say, Cromwell was a terrible terrible person

Dan Hanc

Happy Christmas to you too :D

Just wanted to wish you all a good Saturnalia. Io Saturnalia!

I can't help but wonder if the idea of this video had something to do with the current political situation....

My favourite squares

For some reason I've been wondering what if Historian Civilis was a senator in Rome during the fall of the Republic. Would he be boys with Cicero? Would some guys make YouTube videos about him 2000 years later? What colour would his square be? All pressing questions.

Michael Rück

I loved the Episode; and if this is the start of a new series I love it even more

Historia Civilis

I can solve this one. I would follow Cicero around and try to become his best friend. He hated going to the public games, I also hate sports, I feel like we're half way there already. I guess that means my square colour would be some kind of puke-green or something. And then I would immediately be murdered.

Devin Allen

“What color would his square be” lol. I love the animations. Especially showing the progress of a battle

Mike Shea

Really loved this video and the follow-up! Some of my favorite videos in all of youtube... and I watch a lot of content. I avoided it for so long cause it didn't have to do with Rome but have now replayed it more than any of your other videos.
