Content

As mentioned in the previous post ( https://www.patreon.com/posts/28728872), what do you guys think? Should we keep the early videos or would you prefer seeing exclusive ones?

I think exclusive - maybe with more in-depth content, discussions about usage or variations. Maybe have DirectX discussion for us Windows developers who don't really want the OpenGL content. I think exclusive content is good, because it gives real value to being a patron. It should mean something to support a project - not just for the feels.

I second the part about DirectX maybe keep the current series for the public going as a free resource for all to learn from (that's how I started learning about game engines without needing to feel like I have to make a huge investment upfront), but early access to a directx implementation in the engine would be great as I think thats the preferred choice for most games :)

I'm ony patreon because i get one week earlier video, and exclusive videos is not that interesting for me.

Jawad Alnajjar

If this will lead to more in-depth discussions and technical details, I am all for it.

Iván León

I can wait one week for the Engine Video, the exclusive ones add waaay more value to the Patreon :) Thanks for that

I dont like the idea of you producing content that only a select few can access. Why not do a Patreon Q&A where we can ask your opinion on specific stuff and you answer them? Would be a nice incentive for patreons to be able to ask questions and you would be able to release more content on the channel too. Win Win for everybody.

Shout

Live streams also might be a good idea.

I love the idea of you talking about what is up next for Hazel, and not necessarily for the next episode but maybe 2 or 3. Let's say rendering part. After you were done with Vertex Array's maybe have a video talking about what is up next and that will let us do some stuff on our own before you release on how you do you're materials for instance.

Chris Sinclair

Apologies for being late to the party, only just got sorted with patreon, but I'd love to see some videos where you go into more details about alternative approaches in some areas, or areas where you could go into more detail about the difference between early code to get the architecture in place vs. what you'd accept as production ready, particularly with a focus on performance and portability. Thanks for the series, been having a blast over on YouTube and pulling together a rust version based on this.

Dezzerker

Think more value in exclusive videos, but to save time from your public videos won't have to be much more than a screen share when you trying out ideas or planning for future episodes of the game engine.

I would've like for exclusive videos, but I think everyone out there deserves a good teacher like Cherno. A lot of students don't have the budget to pay for a private tutor or pledge for a patreon.

Robin

Probably a bit late for this discussion but anyways, I can only agree with Kristopher above. I think every video that directly teaches something should be available for everyone, learning should not be bound to having money available to spend. For exclusive videos I would suggest things like video preparations (e.g. testing out different approaches for some game engine feature).

I know how much time producing videos takes. I love your content and I'd hate to see you consumed with MORE editing time and less coding. I'm really just here to support your efforts since I've learned so much from you over the years. Early videos are great.
