Hey all...this is a bit of a weird one for me and is something I should probably address. This might come as a surprise to a lot of you but I have been very burned out from mapmaking for the better part of 6 months...and just for Snowy's Maps in general.

It may not also be a surprise as I am a third year PhD student which means I need to start thinking about writing my thesis this year - which is VERY scary haha. But the combination of both things has just completely fried me.

If you are close to burnout I would definitely NOT advise pushing yourself over the edge like I did. It is totally not worth it as I have come to find and you risk so much. Make sure you look after yourselves and reach out support if you need it. Remember there's no shame in getting help. In fact, I think you are very brave for addressing it. :D

About Ideas Time and Patreon Schedule

One of the things I love so much about Ideas Time is that I get to make maps that you guys suggest and it challenges me from a map making perspective (and also stops me from making forest maps all the time XD). But the problem I am also struggling with is that those ideas can be ANYTHING, and I am going to be honest, I just can't do it right now. On top of that, I really don't want to compromise on quality of the maps because of this. I just need a bit more time before I continue Ideas Time, I think.

Also, just to be clear, things will still be running as normal and you will still be getting your 2x map releases + 1x oneshot each month.

ANYWAY - CHOICES

BUT I don't want to leave you without a choice whatsoever, so I will still be running a poll based on some maps I have in my backlog! The descriptions will also be a little different, and I will just be sharing the names of the maps that would be within each pack. So let's get right into it. :D

Take good care of yourself. You are the only you that matters to yourself.🫂 I am curious as to what you are getting your PhD in... but if I die not knowing I am ok with that.

KnightsWhoSayNi

As a PhD candidate myself, I 100% understand. Academia is toxic af and it's easy to get carried away and do too much. Conferences, publishing, working on your research/thesis all the while you work to sustain yourself and have to "build your CV" in an increasingly competitive world... It's exhausting. Take care of yourself. Your health is much more important than anything else.

Aww...I'm bummed that you're bummed. :( i know that is downplaying your stress but please know that you are supported by the community you have gathered and not just for your wicked cool creativity.

Take care of yourself, that's the most important thing. (And having an excuse to hit some of the backlog items seems like a win/win situation.)

Snowy's Maps

Awww thank you Simon - yeah don't worry I am working on it hehe :)

Snowy's Maps

Yeah, this is a problem with academia I am finding (else I LOVE it). There is always always something more you could do and/or do it better. I really wish you good luck with your PhD though and hope it is going well :)

<3 I don't mind sharing a little bit about my PhD. My subject is bioengineering, looking at how different types of antibodies cross the placenta! We know that babies are born with the protection from their mother against all of the diseases she has been exposed to in life, but we don't know HOW this process works XD

(Also, years back my partner was doing their PhD, so I understand, at least at one remove, the effort there! Good luck!)

Fascinating... Thank you
