The Ether Files: Cement (Patreon)
Content
Ether’s hand ran along her window frame as she watched the contractors pour wet cement into the sidewalk’s empty hole. It was relieving seeing the horrendously cracked sidewalk get redone, soon it’d be smooth as butter to walk on, instead of getting one’s high heels caught in every crevice known to man. The faintest of smiles contorted the doctor’s lips as the cement poured into the space. It gave her an odd sense of satisfaction as the men smoothed out the surface.
The contractors put up their sign and took a break for what was most likely dinner. Ether had also long since sat down for some tea, watching cement dry was a little too primitive for her taste in activities. It was the commotion outside that had really gotten her attention. Some woman was letting out a cacophonous wailing about how her shoes were ruined because of the wet cement. Ether set down her teacup onto the saucer with just enough force that a small crack slivered it’s way from the center towards the edge. It was no matter to Ether, a saucer was replaceable. She took a step towards her window and watched as the woman trudged out of the cement, trying to clean off her now gunky shoe.
Ether wouldn’t forget that face, those features, the body, everything about her was ingrained in the doctor’s fractured mind. The way her sundress ever so loosely fit across her breasts. Her short yet elegant red hair. Just watching her hobble onto the dry pavement boiled Ether’s blood. Didn’t that idiot know how to read? Ether’s knuckles whitened as she gripped the window frame harder. Something needed to be done about this woman, and she had the beginnings of the perfect idea of what. She stuffed some necessities into her pockets and set out.
She followed the wet, lopsided tracks of the woman, being as inconspicuous as possible. Her dulled, lightless eyes watched the woman from afar, akin to an apex predator stalking its prey. The rest of the world seemed to fade from view, the only two people mattering being Ether herself and the redhead. In a moment that most would fault to divine intervention, the woman’s shoe heel snapped, causing her to stumble. She swore aloud, her ankle twisted and luckily enough, a doctor was around to help her out. Ether ran up to her, helping her up.
“Oh, dear, I saw that from a few yards away! Are you quite alright?” she asked, feigning concern for the redhead. The woman nodded, adjusting her dress strap a bit as she looked up at the doctor. Ether was almost taken aback by just how perfect this woman looked, as if every feature were sculpted from alabaster. She was flawless, save for her inability to pay attention.
“Shame,” Ether thought to herself as she helped the redhead stand. “She’s so beautiful, yet so careless.”
“Please, come with me,” Ether said to the redhead. “I’m a doctor and you look like you need some attention to your leg.”
“You are? Oh, thank heavens. I think I hurt myself pretty badly,” the redhead spoke with such a charming lilt that sent shivers down Ether’s spine. It didn’t matter now, though. Not to Ether. As she led the woman to the dark hospital’s front entrance, she took out what she had stuck in her pockets earlier. The smell of nail polish remover permeated through the air, and the rag was pressed against the redhead’s mouth and nose. Ether caught her as she went limp, dragging her inside the hospital and preparing her for her fitting punishment.
It took a while to set up, but the chloroform gave Ether enough time to work her magic. While the woman sat crumpled in the corner of the dark room, Ether had gotten the supplies for homemade cement ready. Connecting the large feeding tube to the woman’s mouth was also made easier. Was there any job chloroform couldn’t help with?
As the woman came to, she found that her mouth was filled with what felt like a thick straw, as if she were connected to a long hose. Ether watched as she awoke, quickly stirring and grasping at the feeding tube. Over an intercom, Ether’s voice echoed into the woman’s ears.
“There’s no point in trying to pull it out, it’s too far inside you that yanking it will only do damage. It’s best to leave it in to save you the trouble of relentless agony,” Ether smiled on the other end of the intercom, her breath hot and staggered with excitement. As she pressed a button, there was a thick churning sound. The woman’s eyes widened as she felt a strange, chalky slag slide down her throat. It tasted like rocks, and felt worse going in.
The woman’s belly started to fill with the earthy mixture, causing it to swell. The heaviness was the first thing the woman noticed as her midsection expanded. Her eyes widened as she tried to break free from her mouthpiece, clawing at it like a rat in a cage. Ether couldn’t help but chuckle, watching the woman carry on like this as if it wasn’t her fault to begin with. The weighty girth of the woman’s belly caused her to stop writhing as much, essentially planting her rear to the floor. As the slag filled out her belly, it continued to expand and swell, soon becoming around the size of an exercise ball. It wasn’t enough for Ether, though. She wanted to make sure the lesson got across to this wretch.
Ether smiled, watching as the woman’s belly expanded and swelled further. It filled her with even more satisfaction seeing someone get punished for misdeeds. The hospital’s red lighting made it hard for the woman to see where she was going.
She knew she was in an empty room with a hose shoved down her throat, but everything was hard to see. It was like looking through a red balloon; everything was distorted and scarlet. She also knew that her belly was getting very full and very heavy, to the point that it was near impossible to move.
The woman tried to stand, but ultimately failed, the sheer weight of her belly too formidable of an adversary to conquer. An odd feeling filled the woman, similarly to how she was being filled with cement. The sloshiness of her belly soon turned into a solid, sturdy feeling. She started to panic, screaming through the hose. The cement was hardening inside her! She tried to squirm, to move, to do anything at all, but every attempt to escape proved fruitless. The intense weight and solidity of her belly was enough to make her immobile, sitting there and being filled to the brim with cement that was drying quicker than she’d like it to.
Ether watched her victim carefully, tensing up more as the woman’s belly continued to fill out as much as it could. The woman felt as though she were due to burst at any second, her giant, swollen belly red and covered in stretch marks. The moment she thought that for sure she was a goner was the moment the slag stopped flowing into her mouth. Ether came into the room, her walking staggered and teetering as she approached her heavy victim. She removed the feeding tube from the woman’s mouth and ran a hand along her swollen, solid belly. It was as if she had made a statue inside a person!
Ether stared into the woman’s eyes, which were full of fear. The doctor pressed her fingers into the woman’s belly, only feeling a solid, cement mass on the inside. Without a word, Ether made her way out of the room and down the hall of other permanent residents. The sound of muffled screams could be heard by a well-trained ear, only drowned out by the sounds of heels in empty hallways. It was just another victim for Ether. There would be plenty more exactly like her just waiting for the doctor’s judgement, and she would be there.
