How to start with this one...

We must say, it's crazy how much we underestimated Taylor before starting to react to her music. I think after finding out Taylor has found the love of her life, that this song hits even harder because of that! We can't wait for all of the swifties to express how much this song means to them as well!

Thank you and enjoy!

Taylor has an album called red which came out in 2012 originally, all too well was on that album but it had to be cut to a normal length song (5 minutes) to be on the album. All too well wasn’t a single back then it was just a beloved song in the fandom, a real deep cut and we knew it was Taylor’s favourite song she’s ever written so we held it in high regard even when it was originally released. She made the mistake of saying that when she was writing it it was originally 10 minutes long in an interview and the fandom never let her forget that. Every time she did something it was like ‘where’s the 10 minute all too well version???’ 😂 so bc the red album was one of the ones she didn’t own, she had to re-record it and when the re-record came out in 2021 she finally gave us the 10 minute version of all too well and made it a whole moment with this short film and even went to promote the rerecord which she really didn’t do for any of her other rerecordings! It won best music video at the Grammys too! So that’s why it says it’s from 4 years ago, the song itself is from 2012.

You’re welcome! I feel like that’s what I’m here for 😂 in case you want to get into the nitty gritty of Taylor’s love life, this song and majority of the red album is about Jake gyllenhaal he was 29 and Taylor was 20 when they dated, that’s why the song and the mv emphasises their age bc he kept using it against her.

I had a gutt feeling about it being about Jake based off what the guy looked like for some reason

This one is so fun & so emotional to watch people experience for the first time. In my opinion, it’s one of the best songs ever written & one of Taylor’s best lyrical masterpieces. It’s gut-wrenching, heart shattering, but also so beautiful. It’s very specific to her life & her relationship with Jake Gyllenhaal but in that specificity it is also somehow relatable to so many people. Sadie Sink and Dylan O’Brien did a phenomenal job of bringing this story to life even more and Taylor did a fantastic job of directing it. I can’t imagine it would be easy to relive all of these hard feelings for the sake of creation but I’m so glad she decided to give us this. Also, there is a behind the scenes video of the making of this short film that’s pretty cool. If you ever want to watch it, here is the link https://youtu.be/M0Ku_op-LXI

Good catch! Sadie and Dylan (the actors in this) acted so well! Unrelated but kinda related I know you react to John Mayer, I don’t watch those reactions bc I am a Taylor fan and I know you probs love him so I don’t want to ruin your perception of him since I know he’s pretty talented but Taylor also dated John and that age gap was problematic af… he was 32 and Taylor was 19 from the songs she made it seemed like it was an emotionally abusive relationship too. She dated John before Jake but they were back to back so girlie was going through it. The songs are ‘dear John’ which she wrote when she was 19 for her speak now album in 2010 and then ‘would’ve could’ve should’ve’ which looks back on the relationship 13 years later in her midnights album in 2022. If you ever want to do them in the future!

Also I just have to say that y’all have such a beautiful relationship. It’s obvious how much you love and respect each other. It’s awesome to see. 💙

Im glad we are doing some of her "break up" songs since thats a big reason why Alanna didnt get into Taylor was because of being type casted into only making break up songs. Where now this song again has delivered and made us even deeper Swifties now

I have listened to Taylor's music off and on since she came out. Was never a full swiftie but this song on red really touched me. Can you imagine the shock we were all in as we listened to the 10 minute version after listening to the original with all the parts that were added in making it even more devastating of a song than it already was? It's exquisite, in my opinion. A true masterpiece. It captures that feeling of a young innocent girl being adored and then discarded and not knowing what happened. It weaves in the gaslighting and devaluing so well. I've been there. They try and make you feel like you're stupid and that it was all in your head but you know that it wasn't and they remember it "all too well". The repetitive nature at the end also mimics the thoughts going round and round in your head as you question what was real and what wasn't. Brilliant. Also, I will note that people come for her that she's not a great singer and I don't think she's a vocal genius. However, she tells a story with her songs and many amazing vocalists can't do that. I feel that way about Jin (tho his voice is amazing) from BTS, he touches your heart and takes you on a journey in his songs. When you make people feel things with your sings it's more powerful than showing off your abilities. As a singer myself, All Too Well is a damn hard song to sing because of the kadence, the wordplay, and story telling. Her best song, period. 💜

Hi! So I just joined your Patreon because I was so excited to see that you had recorded this video. I just couldn’t wait for the YouTube release! I came across your reaction channel a few weeks ago, and absolutely loved your reaction to Taylor and Travis on the new Heights podcast. I’m a huge Swifty and a big fan of the way you two process and appreciate the media you’re reacting to. Also love the dynamic between the two of you. ❤️ Some backstory which I know a few people have commented already: this song is about Jake Gyllenhaal. He and Taylor dated when Taylor was 20 and Jake was 29. She had fallen hard for him, and was devastated when he ended things, claiming she was too young for him. He didn’t show up to her 21st birthday party, because he was embarrassed about being around a bunch of 20-year-olds. I loved how you caught the line. “you kept me like a secret, but I kept you like an oath.” She makes various other references to Jake and other songs, and one of her new(ish) songs is a follow up to this one called “ I bet you think about me.” it’s actually really hilarious and you should watch the video, another Taylor masterpiece. This song., “ all too well” was heartbreaking for Taylor to write and she has said in interviews that it was particularly difficult to sing it for the first few times live on stage without breaking down. Now she can look back in reflection and say it is her favourite song because those feelings are no longer there. Another song she wrote for Jake is called the manuscript. It’s basically saying she’s closed the book on their story. Another funny anecdote from some of her other mentions of Jake: he absolutely hated her music. He never appreciated her talent, and preferred to listen to obscure Indie music instead. He made her feel like her songs were just childish pop songs. So when they finally broke up for real, she wrote. “ we are never getting back together.” Just for Jake. She said in an interview that she tried to make it the poppiest, most annoying, earworm song she could. She knew he would hate it, and it became a huge success. Just some of the Jake/Taylor lore!

Just watched all your Taylor videos today, me and my gf are obsessed and so gutted that we don’t have 200 Taylor videos from you to binge😂 BUT we saw you had released this on Patreon so here we are!(All the way from Norway, if you were wondering haha). We have loved your videos and are so excited for more! Do you have like a «schedule» for Taylor videos, or are they just happening whenever you feel like it? 😊

Also, please please watch the 6 episode docuseries on Disney+ about her life behind the stage of the eras tour. You will come to understand Taylor and the beauty of her personality so much more. Also the relationships she has with her family and all of her dancers, back up singers, just everyone she comes in contact with. Miss Americana is another documentary about her, but I think watching the new series would be beneficial because it reflects her life right now. I honestly can’t wait for you to view them and hear your perspectives!!

You guys are so sweet and so genuine! It shines through on your reactions <3 In a space where people sometimes do this for the views, you both come across very pure and refreshing to watch!!

I was so excited to see that you were reacting to All Too Well! It is my #1 all-time favorite Taylor song, and I've been a fan since her 2nd album, Fearless, came out in 2008. Can't wait for you to see her performance of this song on the Eras tour.
