This one won the poll for what song to react to before Episode 6 of the docuseries! It is truly a perfect transition piece. What we love about this song is how wise Taylor was at such a young age to put together such a multi generational song for the love of your mom and others that blessed your life! What a beautiful life, childhood and family she has! If this song is still hard for some of you, we understand that as well! Enjoy our reaction, Swifties!

Sense you guys just finished the docuseries. I think the next thing you should do before you start at the beginning with your Taylor journeying is watch her Documentary Miss Americana on Netflix that will give you more background about her and her beginning so you guys aren't completely lost. Just a thought to put in your mind if that's something you would want to do!

I've had a rough relationship at times with my own mother, even though I know she loves me. We're just very different, and what she's wanted for me wasn't what I wanted. I've tried to remember those things that were rough for me, and change them with my own daughter. I always want her to know that's she's loved, unconditionally, even if her choices wouldn't have been my choices. When I sing this song, when I get to "I knew you were on my side, even when I was wrong", it makes me tear up every time!

Ari

Oh, and the bangs are spectacular! That's a great look for you, esp. with the new color!

Jokes on you guys, it's my scheduled ugly crying time anyways 😝 TLDR; My mom and I have a very complicated relationship. I always wonder what I could have done or could have achieved if I had a different experience.

Tiffany

love the bangs!

my mom has loved me more unconditionally than anyone i. my life and this song makes me cry every time 😭 i’m sorry you didn’t have the relationship you hoped for with your mom alanna, i hope that you get to have such a lasting and special relationship with your kids and that they recognize how much you love them! 🫶🏻

The Best Day is a beautiful thread to celebrate and untangle in Taylor’s discography. As an eldest daughter with a strained and ever complex relationship with my mom, this song, like for Alanna, used to be an emotional double edged sword. As a 10 year old girl, this song cut my heart and made me jealous and angered and painfully sad. But I’ve grown. It’s actually a song I listen to every Mother’s Day. Whether I’m on “good terms” with mom at the time or not, I play the song aloud and look at a kid photo of myself and a childhood photo of my mom. Because at the end of the day, she’s just a girl figuring life out for the first time too. And though my dynamic still may be rusty and challenging with my mother today, I know that she’s doing this for the first time and trying her best. We all deserve loving parents and a safe and warm home. And that warming internal softness can be found inside all of us. It’s true that all kids deserve parents, but not all parents deserve children. But trauma can heal, we can grow from your wounds, we can amend internally, emotionally and literally. And we can all have the best day with those we love and with our community and with our selves! Loved this reaction. I’m very excited for you to listen to Never Grow Up and Seven! Much love from Oregon 🥹🩵⭐️🫶

The fact that he thought it was going to be a mushroom cut and the response was “I’m not so sure” LMAO! The bangs are AMAZING

Samra

Alanna you look beautiful!! Love the bangs 🫶🏼

LOVING the bangs, you look so good!

Alanna Percival

Thank you so much!! Its been a decade since I last rocked them and im loving the change!

Alanna Percival

Hahaha I didnt even know thats what he was envisioning until he told me before the reaction after the hair style! I LOVE hoe much trust he has in me because even though he thought I may be getting a mushroom cut he was still supporting my hair transformation!!

For me, I honestly thought this was about her Dad for the longest time and I think that was because I had a good (as good as one can have in my household) relationship with my dad until my teenager years. I remember nights hanging out with my dad. Long talks about everything. Playing videos games (like I still can’t play Xbox and PlayStation type games because it reminds me the relationship I once had with my dad and don’t anymore). Now it’s even more bittersweet to listen to this song but I try to see it more as inspiration for people. Like I hope people, parents/future parents, listen to this and really internalize the goal parenthood here. Creating a safe place for your kids so that on their hardest day you are the person they go to for comfort. I cant imagine what that would be like but through music and media like this, i can almost see it and my wish is for all kids to grow up with that. Kids don’t need perfect parents but they do need safe parents.

I just wanted to say to Alanna. I cry EVERY time I listen to this song. Even when I listen to it through watching a reaction. I don't think I've ever listened to the best day and not cried. You don't have to apologize for how a form of art makes you feel. Your feelings are very valid <3

awholeproblem

you look stunning!!!! this really suits you!!

DreaAnnTW

I’m so excited to watch this reaction!!!

I love this song. Fortunately I have really good relationship with my mom. So I see us in Taylor and her mom. But the line about father is always bittersweet for me and breaks me every time. On the one hand I have so many good memories from childhood with him, but then I remember what he did to me. So thinking about this happy moments always hurts.

Angela

Alanna you look beautiful, I Love the hair.

Monica Torres

So one thing you weren’t told is Taylor wrote this after her mother was diagnosed with cancer. She went into remission but was rediagnosed in 2018 and Taylor wrote another emotional song on the album lover about it called ‘soon you’ll get better’

Keely Lambert

Love the bangs! I completely understand gender disappointment. I have 4 daughters and I was so desperate for a boy. However I am now a Granny and now have my little prince! So dont lose hope as it may happen for you but if not grandchildren are even more of a blessing xx

Ruth Minney

I love the bangs!! Not everyone can pull it off but you're doing it girl!! 🥰🥰

madde

i dont usually comment but i just have to say wow girl!!! bangs were the move, you look stunning :)

Krista Grigsby

My dad made some not so great decisions and passed away when I was a kid so that part gets me too. 🫂 🫂

Krista Grigsby

One thing i didnt expect to feel after both my parents had passed away was the lack of the sense of “home” Theres not a place I can go and be taken care of and loved the same way unconditionally. I have great friends and other family but it’s just not the same. I used to play this song over and over in the car with my grandpa. I hope he actually listened to the words and realized why it was always on repeat.

Kmajla13

So sorry to hear that 🫂🫂

Avriette 💕

I know we are about to cry but girl the hair is 100/10

Alanna Percival

Awe thank you! I am so excited for the day my children have children and I get to follow in my grandma's footsteps and be an amazing grandma for my grandkids!

Alanna Percival

Omg this is devastating but so on point for taylor to write our hearts out is the best possible way!
