The drummer, John Bonham, passed away in 1980 which is the reason why the band broke up. The three surviving members, Robert Plant, Jimmy Page and John Paul Jones, were in attendance to recieve their award at the Kennedy Center Honors. They had asked Jason Bonham to come with them in his father's place, but he wanted to keep the fact that he was performing a secret, so he told them he couldn't make it. That's why they were so shocked when he walked out on stage with Heart to play.

The drummer for Zeppelin (John Bonham) died many years ago, so drummer Jason Bonham's dad was not there, which is part of why it was so emotional for all of them. The guy tearing up was the singer Robert Plant; to his left smiling with white hair was lead guitarist Jimmy Page, and the guy to his right was the bass player John Paul Jones.
