I’m so happy you guys did this reaction! I came here as a Swiftie, but for this reaction I’m just a girl who immigrated to the US from Serbia as a baby (technically Montenegro but that’s complicated). I absolutely love Lavina, this song, this dramatic performance, and of course your reaction. Kraj Mene actually has a double meaning. It means both beside me and end of me. That means, “I still dream that you’re beside me” can also be interpreted as “I still dream that you’re the end of me.” The lead vocalist and lyricist, Luka, has spoken about loving this ambiguity. He also mentioned a third option for muses other than romance and religion, and that’s music itself. The song then becomes about his struggle to keep his dreams of being a metal performer alive. In everyday life, he is actually a professional guitar teacher and has his masters in that. His brother is the keyboardist and the second vocalist in the band, of which he is classically trained in too. Serbia is so proud of these boys. They are well spoken, but also adorable in interviews. They all speak great English and in fact, this is their first released song in Serbian. The rest of their relatively small catalogue is in English, including the original version of this song. They changed it to Serbian for Serbia’s Eurovision rules. The lyrics of each version are similar in parts, but there are many differences, as it is not a direct translation. I highly recommend you listen to that version, as well as their symphonic version performance video. By the way, you were thinking of Siberia instead of Serbia at the end of the video. Gulags and arctic temperatures are not Serbian. It happens all the time though.

Fellow Swiftie - immigrated to the US from Bosnia (Serbia, Bosnia plus several other countries were one country prior to the 90s war- also why so many of us came to other countries as refugees). Anyway - just wanted to say seeing this title threw me off so much because I was not expecting to be able to read and understand the words 😆 so cool!

Yes! I was surprised too. They are really making waves in Eurovision. Croatia is looking good too. Both have darker, more serious songs. The same fashion designer too. Also yes- how do I explain that I was born in Montenegro, I can communicate across several countries, my parents and grandparents were actually born across 4 countries (Bosnia, Croatia, Montenegro, and Serbia) that were all one country back then, and they practiced 3 different religions (Islam, Orthodox Christianity, and Catholicism). Haha what a mess.
