Stardrive Concepts (Patreon)

Another important character I will be including in the story, Stardrive will be a unique and interesting attempt for me. In TFA the only known triple-changer is Blitzwing, and according to established lore triple-changers are all under the same umbrella as he is, i.e. "three modes, three faces, three personalities."

Stardrive's backstory in the IDW comics was incredibly interesting. She was rescued as a protoform by Rom the Spaceknight, and raised in a society that fears Transformers as a whole because the only information they have available on them is grainy footage of Decepticon violence. So I thought, since she's a triple-changer in that story, in the TFA world her unpredictable face-swapping would make her even MORE frightening for those who would distrust her!

In the end, I want her to be the quintessential "side-kick" character. Her situation is dramatic and she has a tragic backstory, but she chooses to fight for good and has a childish naivete attached to her. When I stumbled on the idea of making her helmet resemble a bike helmet, I thought it was PERFECT! It conveys her danger-prone nature, resembles the behavior of an over-eager child reminded to stay safe, and makes it easy to include a subtle star design without making it obvious.
