Man, the Game Tech Video series really just screams "It was a different era!", huh? I mean, aside from the fact that these are video cassette tapes sold at retail to tell you about upcoming video game releases—definitely not a modern-day concert—there's also a lot of unsavory stuff that used to fly and absolutely would not be OK now. So... you can skip the first 15 minutes of this video, since it's heavily focused on 8-bit baseball, which is not THAT huge a sin on its own. But the GTV team brought back all their worst gimmicks here with both drag-as-punching-bag-comedy AND "Indiaman." It's a little rough! But the back 2/3s are heavily loaded with some pretty cool previews, including some for games that have recently shown up on NES Works. Another one of those, as they say, "mixed bags."

GTV: Game Tech Video Vol. 11 [Dec. 1988] VHS Rip

Another Game Tech Video, and I'm starting to get a sense of why this series didn't last much longer. It's really started to become self-indulgent, and not in the surreal goofball sense of the early episodes. More in a "podcasters laughing at their own inside jokes for the entire episode" way. The first third of this video features the increasingly arcane tale of the two Sophies, a drawn out baseball competition skit between Mr. X and "Indiaman", and two of the video's editors dressed in drag for ANOTHER drawn out baseball competition. GTV is really giving into its worst impulses here, AND pairing that bad decision-making with the tedious 8-bit baseball mania that swept the Famicom. It's a little rough! 0:26 - Titles and Sophie weirdness 1:36 - Mister X's Secret Tech Point: Famista ’88 9:30 - Weird bondage skit 9:39 - Kaiju Monogatari trailer 10:09 - Super Mario Bros. 3 trailer 10:39 - Sophie intros the Kabukicho Sisters, the "world's first transexual gamers" in a baseball competition..........
