The episode post for this week is running a couple of days behind... like I said, life has been kicking my butt lately. Today's a work day, and tomorrow is a family day, so expect to see it Friday—and, hopefully, things will lock back into their normal routine after that. Maybe. There's a Phantasy Star episode coming up soon, and I just know that's gonna be a slobberknocker.

In the meantime, to tide you over, here is an upload of a superplay video tape of Sega arcade games that kids could have purchased with cash money back in the ’80s (kids in Japan, anyway). Since owning a Super Hang-On cabinet was somewhat prohibitively expensive, these tapes were deemed an acceptable substitute.

Also, please don't forget! This is the last weekend to preorder The NES Era Vol. 2. If you miss it now, there'll be copies available once preorders ship... but they're going to cost more, since they're printed offshore and the final cover price will reflect the distressing tariffs that have been threatened for imports next year. (Cool book-tier patrons, of course, have no reason to be concerned, since they're on the mailing list for all three volumes as a thank-you for their support.)

Sega High-Energy Super Game 6 VHS Rip

An officially licensed, nationally distributed (in Japan) VHS tape of Sega gameplay footage and superplays. You couldn't own the arcade game at home in the ’80s, but you could watch other people play thanks to this Pony Canyon/Scitron & Art production. This mostly focuses on Super Scaler games, BUT it does include two System 16 titles... which appear to have been thrown in here as a promotional effort for the Japanese Master System hardware release. Check the commercial for the redesigned hardware at the end, which includes blurb for both of the aforementioned titles. More like High-Synergy Super Game 6, am I right? After Burner II Super Hang-On Enduro Racer Hang-On S.D.I. Alien Syndrome Please feel free to grab material from this upload for your own videos (and please also be kind and credit this channel as the source of those excerpts, like a good journalist should).

Your weekly videos are always cherished and appreciated but never expected or demanded. You're one of the hardest-working guys in game preservation and history. It will be worth the wait! Enjoy whatever free time you get with your family this week.

Life has been kicking my butt lately, too. Take deep breaths, listen to good music, and remember that there are people in real life who love you, and people online who love your work.
