GoT creators kept hyping how much was going to happen this season "its only 7 episodes but will feel like 10!", but the first two have been quite slow at times, lots of unnecessary exposition. "I'm leaving someone important in charge!" "Who?" "you.". What was the point of the hot pie scene?

Coxer

I agree with you. The Hot Pie scene was pretty good in my opinion but that stupid sex scene with Grey Worm was so fucking terrible and pointless.

Max Rosenblum

Damn I won't be able to make it.

Hairless Oyster

First off, no scene with sweet sweet Missandei is stupid. Second, Hot Pie is a Fuckin' Legend. Thirdly?, it makes sense to have some extra set up, it's been 15 months since the start of the last. Lastly, Missandei. Damn.

Is Clydas the world's most useless Maester-stand in? Can't get a raven to Winterfell from Castle Black to tell Jon and Sansa "hey, we have your Bro' - the real KitN - here with us" while Dany can get one all the way from Dragonstone.

Jonas Christensen

Hey, will you also talk a bit about the episode 3 preview ?

Rikke Holmberg

The Hot Pie scene was Arya meeting her past, realising how much she's changed, and being reminded that there are things more important than revenge. I liked it.

I was fully expecting to be disappointed, but I actually really liked this episode. I absolutely teared up at the wolf scene. And I enjoyed Varys being roasted. Can't wait to see what you make of this. (And thank you for promoting the Schwift Facebook group. We are heading towards 400 members now)

Yeah what hairless said^

Exactly Rikke.. we've got Arya battling between losing herself to being a completely cold killer (the frey scene, where I'm sure some who died were innocent) and then Arya grasping at humanity, at the girl she used to be (the hated Ed scene and the hot pie scene).

Stephanie M

I can't wait to hear your take on Arya this season. She never fully embraced the House of Black and White. She was never truly a faceless man. She couldn't separate the act of death given out indiscriminately from her own personal code of justice. This lonely girl, who has lost so much still can't fit into this new religion she has joined. She takes those skills though and shows what a changed girl she is. The slaughtering of Freys st the end of S6 and beginning of S7 shows how cold and detached she can when exacting what she believes is justice. Jon who has seen battle and Sansa who has suffered at the hands of multiple captors aren't as cold as Arya. Yes he only reason Arya is so vicious is because she believes she is serving justice. As HotPie asks "What happened to you?" She isn't the Stark girl she started the show as. She isn't the cold killer she needed to be for the faceless men. She is suspended in between what the world has made her by circumstance and who she wants to be. The mere mention of Jon holding Winterfell makes her turn her back on Cersei (one of the first people to make her kill list way back in S2). It is heartbreaking.

Shift, please get a Reddit post going for our questions on tonight's stream. I'd like for you to focus on Arya...but not in the way everyone else here is discussing...I mean, the scene with Hot Pie was to tell how different she now is, a cold-blooded assassin on her way to kill the queen, how different she now is from Hot Pie, one of her best friends....but then it takes her two minutes to decide to go back north once she learns her brother is alive? She's that soft? Wasn't the whole point of the second part of her story to show that she's an assassin now? ALSO.....after your first stream I sort of jumped on this bandwagon of Sam Tarly being the narrator of the series....and they might've just hinted at it in this episode, probably not gonna be true but let's discuss the awesomeness of this for a second.

How is no one commenting on the obvious--THEON!!! I actually find him much more interesting than Arya. Arya has felt a little one-track to me lately. And even though Theon is kind of a minor character at this point, he's got so much more internal conflict. Every time he does something bad, he does something good. Every time he does something good, he does something bad. Something tells me he'll do something in the future episodes to redeem himself again. And his emotional process in this episode, from the PTSD-like flashbacks to the look of self-hate while he's drifting in the ocean are so much more heartbreaking to me than Arya's storyline because he's so aware of his own despicable character. I can't wait to hear what Shift has to say about him!
