New video out now for Patrons – S7E03 Explained (Patreon)

This is a Patron-only pre-release. It includes a typo (it's hard to spell Torrhen) and is missing a lil visual effect on the Rhaegar infographic (which is now in the final version of the vid thanks to Patron Joe).

Am not entirely happy with the vocal performance in this vid – it's a bit croaky at parts. Otherwise, it's a solid video. Enjoy!

Is the final going to have the two separate Audio plugs or just leave the one at the end?

It'll have both. In future, I'll probably go with just one or the other – still figuring this stuff out.

I came here to ask the same question. Did you mean to include two Audible adverts? (now I see, that you did ... ) And I have used many different words to describe your voice, but croaky is definitely not one of them :)

They plug between Jon Con and Jeor was close to the end so it I think it seemed a bit much with the longer Audio advertising at the end. I really liked the book reference for the Cersei/Jaime scene. I haven't seen someone bring that up yet.

I think you'll get a lot of smack for having two. The one at the end seems natural. The one in the middle of the video seems a bit forced. IMO.

Another great vid. One minor point: you mention that the other houses of the Reach aren't shown in the show, but in the previous episode Jaime tells Randyll that the other Lords of the Reach look to him for guidance, which I think is the show's way of saying that all the other Tyrell bannermen will follow Randyll's lead. So I infer that when Jaime and Randyll take Highgarden it's in conjunction with all the other Reach Lords, which is why they took it so easily. Not that that makes what you said wrong, just that I think the show spotted the issue and hand-waved their way past it with a line of dialogue.

Yeah well Kinvara pointedly brought that up last season.. So maybe that voice prophesied Varys death in Westeros? It's possible I guess

Perhaps Varys has been R'hollor this whole time, knowing all his secrets through the flames when people talk over campfires, at their hearths and when ships are aflame.... *cue suspenseful music*

Yeah I agree. We are probably meant to assume that at least some of the other houses of the reach went over to Cersei along with Randyll - but yeah, the show doesn't make a big point of it either way.

Question: is in possible to create a video on golden spiral (PHI) they showed at very beginning? I also wonder about the meaning of the shapes on Quaithe mask & Melisandre's neckless. Thanks!

Hi mate, you mean the corpse-patterns left by white walkers? As for the hexagonal patterns on Mel and Quaithe, I figured that refers to Asshai, because Mel and Quaithe are both from there. But in Season 6, the pattern also appears on red priests in Meereen. So maybe it just means 'exotic magicy red person'? Maybe worth a video at some point.

He mentions that Euron semi-circumnavigates the continent, but doesn't it seem more likely that he just had a fleet of ships waiting in the Iron Islands?

Yeah that'd make more sense. But they specifically zoom in on the fancy ironborn ship with extra sails, which presumably represents Euron's SIlence - so I think we're meant to assume that Euron is there.

Hey Shift! Dunno if this is the right place to ask, but is there someone who can confirm if episode 4 is leaked, and if so where to watch it? Would of course prefer to watch it at release on HBO, but hate when then internet spoil the whole thing for me. Thanks

Episode 4 did indeed leak, however, the sites supporting it are being taken down just as quickly as they are being uploaded (stolen content, laws against that, etc...) I am ashamed to admit that I watched it and can confirm its excellence. Probably the best episode of the season so far. Don't miss it.
