Here it is! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4geBr84d39s

This is the longest Alt Shift X video ever – summing up not only S7E07, but the overall state of the story at the end of Season 7. I'm especially pleased with the visuals in this one – and there are also some truly egregious puns in there for you to enjoy.

This is an early Patron-only pre-release - the public version, with a few minor visual fixes, will go live in about 12 hours.

Alt Shift X will soon take some time off – will make a post in the coming days about what to expect. Til then, enjoy the vid!

Thanks

Shift

Mary

Thank you. This was brilliant!

Stephanie M

What an amazing conclusion to end the season. I can't decide what I love more "a blue winter rose by any other name" or the way you say elephants! The breakdown of the episode was spot on. Thanks for covering the crack pot theories like B=NK, making book tie ins, and keeping the humor throughout the episode. This was a video well worth waiting for! The graphics explaining who was left as players for next season were flawless as always. (I think especially for show only viewers this was great.) We have two years until the next season possibly, is it too greedy to say I want Stranger Things, American Gods, and Westworld? It'd be nice to see ST since you already have a video about it. A book club would be a lot of fun (but not as fun as the schwiftysquwad). Enjoy your break/vacation/whatever it is! I'm going consider the shout out an early 24th birthday present since you'll be for the rest of September! Thank you so much!

Mary

I agree w/Stephanie: "Stranger Things," "American Gods" and "Westworld." How about "Twin Peaks S3"? I'm greedier. :-) Oh, and yes, book club!!! Just more.

GemmaG

I cant look at the visuals until later when i get home (looking at your videos isnt part of my job description unfortunately) but it sounded GREAT! Definitely worth waiting for. I'd love to hear your take on westworld, since you seem to really like stranger things i better catch up and watch that. Have a wonderful holiday 😘

1. The "Love, Square" line/delivery is most good. 2. Olly-Fonts will be a memeypun by tomorrow . I think maybe Olly stabbing the words AMERICAN TYPEWRITER in American typewriter could work. 3. Fuck Westworld. If HBO was the wide world of porn,Westworld would live in the " teasing/edging" category . I like it well enough but leave that clusterfuck of network greed and intentional deception to less apt minds. 4. Good on ya for the shoutouts/texts/and warning about All Things Schwift. It's not for everyone. We appreciate the mention and the warning. 5. I get the feeling you are not too keen on the general jackassery displayed the the Stark Spawn. I agree. Storyline bent the knee to Cinema. Then Storyline disrobed hastily and without affection. Lastly, Storyline held logic to its ample bossom and collectively bent over a well-worn oaken dinner table, spit in its own arse, and all but invited Cinema to make memories collect on its backside. But no hate here, just a tickle of critical analysis. I'll end there. I have a sixth point but not a seventh and finishing on an even numbered list is bad luck. Thank you, Cheers, Have Fun, Be Well and hope to see you taking a break and enjoying a reading of the Forsaken Soon.

Hairless Oyster

And let's do stranger things. And fuck it, I've never read Hairy Spotter. Is it time to give it a try ?

Jesse Deal

I just realized why his name is aegon, it's because in book to when Dany is in the house of the undying she has a vision of rhaegar and a woman with a baby saying "Aegon… What better name for a King… He is the Prince that was Promised, and his is the song of ice and fire".

Rikke Holmberg

Oh my - My heart jumped right out of my chest when all SchwiftySquwad admins got a shoutout in the end. Name on screen and everything! So incredibly sweet of you to include Cata and Ernest. <3 The video of course is perfect. Glorious graphics, flawless flow and puns on point.

Paul Vahur

Great find! "His is the song of ice and fire." Can't be any more direct than this.

gwiz665

Great job mate. I'd love all three of those shows Explained as well. What I'd really like is Twin Peaks the return, or even a run through the original series too, since it's so abstract that it's hard to grok properly. Good season, shift!

Conor Reed

Westworld would be amazing, I loved the series but theres so much I only realised about it after looking up analyses and explanations so to have you summarise it all for me would be great xD

Shiera Seastar

Yeah, that was a sweet shout out to Oliphants! Love LoTR! :D

Shiera Seastar

That was fantastic, thanks for the shout out, Schwift, er, I mean Shift! Have a great break! <3 :D

Karl Rodh

It would be very interesting to see a video ft. Mr Robot. I would without doubt watch it... <3

Persephone Jones

I would love an OG Twin Peaks. I graduated college mid S1 and missed the boat!

Adva Lanciano

Braving my first comment here. This was an amazing video, the best one of the season in my opinion. I especially liked the comparison to Dany's vision, "proud soccer moms", the analysis of Theon, Sansa and Jaime's arcs, and the final placing of characters on the map. Congrats on finally having a visual for Rhaegar :) And thank you for the shout out for the admins, we were all giddy for hours. Love you a lot, Alt.

Martina

Your take on American Gods would be awesome.

Thee Stevie Franchise

Alt Shift X is a legend in his own time. Thanks given to your team and you for the hard work making these work for all of us. I don't think Westworld deserves your time, Stranger Things made me feel like I was watching the Goonies all over again, and never heard of American Gods. So, I'll vote for the devil I don't know and say work on American Gods. Last, I think the Stark plot actually does work; I had a revelation as to how while watching E7. However, no one else seems to see it and I've been wrong before, but I do think the elements are all there. Enjoy your vacation and drink a few on us!

Kelly Theobald

OYSTERRR!!! Just do it. Juuuust frickin do it. (Also, wow it is refreshing to hear someone who didn't like Westworld. I also thought it was very gimmicky, with unnecessary holes and deliberate bewilderment for the sake of it. I kinda hated it :/ )

Daniel Johnson

Excellent as always. One tiny gripe: it kind of drives me crazy the way people conflate the prophecies and the legends as if they're all the same thing and I'm surprised to hear you doing the same. Even though Mellissendre has referred to the Prince that was Promised and Azhor Ahai interchangeably, there's no other textual support for doing this. And yet all of the most astute members of the fan community seem to have no problem just blurring the two together. Personally, I think this is residual christianity in our cultural DNA – the archetype of the messiah who comes, leaves, and then comes again.

Kelly Theobald

Loved the puns, the visuals (esp the Stark/Targ symbols behind Jon's family tree), and the insights, especially that Petyr is clever, but not wise. The perfect explanation. Congratulations on an excellent season of explanations! And on getting all those names out in one breath, haha that was the real drama ;)

G.R. Penn

Do you believe there is evidence to support the contrary? I'm honestly curious because I've also heard everyone refer to them interchangeably, including the producers of the show, so it's curious to hear someone argue otherwise.

Daniel Johnson

I'm just not aware of where the notion comes from that Azhor Ahai (or any of the cultural iterations of his story that exist in the books) will be reborn. If it exists in the books, I'd love to know because I guess I just missed it. The only prophecy I'm aware of being mentioned in the books is the Prince that was Promised and I don't think there's a lot of detail given in the books on that one. I'm pretty sure the books never say that the Prince that was Promised is a reborn or returning version of a previous hero though.

G.R. Penn

Sorry, I'm a bit late to the party (I'm American so the video uploaded around 12:30 am my time). Excellent video! This one is among your very best. I really enjoyed the love you gave to the movie Aliens ("Looks like love at first sight to me."). It's one of my favorite movies. I also appreciate all the support and mentions you give to the books. I've read them all but the books are so dense and detail-rich that I feel like I don't absorb it all, so when you mention something from the books it triggers a memory. It sounds like you have a lot of fun reading the scripts, even though I'm sure it's a daunting task, and it's good to hear you're taking a well-deserved break. GoT season must be a busy one for you. Looking forward to seeing some new GoT vids from you in the future. I don't watch a lot of t.v. so I don't have any suggestions on what to focus on next. Whatever you choose, I'm sure it'll be incredible. Take care.

G.R. Penn

I also didn't like Westworld so it's good to hear others who don't like it either. Found it simple and predictable.

Jenny Zina Tavares

RE: Jon's name of Aegon. ASX, do you discount Dany's vision in the House of the Undying (the part with Aegon and "a woman") when he say's the baby will be named Aegon and his will be the song of ice and fire? To me it sounds like the woman was Lyanna and the baby was Jon.

Rigatoni

My vote is for westworld - PLEASE!!!

Bran the Builder

Finally have electricity again after Irma skirted Puerto Rico! Just wanted to say again how much I enjoyed this and the Squwad shoutout at the end! Looking forward to more Schwift soon! <3

Persephone Jones

Thank you so much for bringing up the rape threat "joking" to Gendry. I expected it to explode and have been waiting until now to hear any comment about it, much less discussion, and I have been waiting. At the time my friend and I looked at each other shocked and I said "did they just.." and he replied "a-yep." What the hell is going on here. Overall great video, I amlooking forward to the Rhaegar a lot, so I expect I'll end up watching S8. I'm glad there is a break, TBH.
