2017 was a big year for Alt Shift X. We made some of our best analysis videos ever – Cersei, Jaime, Rhaegar, the Grand Northern Conspiracy. Some cool lore videos, like Aegon’s Conquest and Valyrian steel. We survived a tumultuous GOT Season 7, with weekly Patron livestreams as well as the episode breakdowns. There was also, inexplicably, Game of Bones, Alt Schwift X and Alt Shift ZZZ.

We’ve now got these Game of Thrones videos down to a fine art. They’re painstakingly researched and written (and rewritten, and rewritten) with hundreds of citations in each script. The visual compositions are intricate mosaic mind-maps, lovingly crafted from an enormous library of GOT media (8000 individually keyworded timestamped clips and images). And we’ve even figured out how to pronounce “Viserys” properly.

We’ve now made 65 GOT videos – 13 hours long in total. And there are many more cool GOT vids to make – like analyses of Bloodraven, Bran, Sansa, Brienne, Theon, Euron, Melisandre. Robert’s Rebellion, the Blackfyre rebellions, the Dance of the Dragons. The doom of Valyria, Hardhome, the pink letter, House Dayne, Patchface. These are the sorts of GOT vids we'll make in 2018, using your feedback to choose topics – a new vote is now open for $3+ Patrons!

But it’s a long dark off-season between now and GOT Season 8 – not to mention the ever elusive Winds of Winter. And there are actually, y’know, rather a lot of other great series, movies, and even the real world(?!) to talk about. So now’s a good time to try out some non-GOT stuff. In October’s Patron survey, you guys were most keen for a Westworld video – so we’re now working on an analysis of Westworld Season 1. A Mother movie analysis may also happen, and Black Mirror episode breakdowns would be cool... and maybe something on the Netflix series Dark?

So 2018 will be a mix of old and new. We’ll keep doing great GOT videos, as ever. And we’ll try out new kinds of videos, on new series. This’ll give Alt Shift X plenty of cool stuff to talk about through the next year and beyond (:

Thank you to the Patrons supporting Alt Shift X. 2017 was a weird year on YouTube, with the adpocalypse and demonetisation – many creators had to rethink their future on the platform. It's thanks to you guys that Alt Shift X continues to grow and evolve.

Cheers

Yet still, I don't know why in the hell Patreon uses three different kinds of text formatting to show hyperlinks... some things never change

I loved the Jaime and Cersei videos even though I’m most interested in Dorne and the Iron Islands. I hope the same happens with West World! The ASX team consistently turns out videos that increase in quality! Thank you for creating such fantastic content! Happy New Year ASX!

Can’t wait for The Doom, Hardhome, and Patchface— but I’ll be here every step of the way regardless of what comes first!!! Happy new year, and cheers!! ♡

I love all of your GOT videos, I've watched them all multiple times and can't get enough of the lore, theories, information and awesome mind maps! Keep up the great work : )

Thank you for all your brilliant videos. Your work is unique in the GOT youtube world and it’s obvious that you put so much time and hard work into each one. Here’s to another great year of amazing video content and artistry of Alt Shift X! Cheers.

‘How many eyes does Lord Bloodraven have? the riddle ran. A thousand eyes, and one. Some claimed the King's Hand was a student of the dark arts who could change his face, put on the likeness of a one-eyed dog, even turn into a mist. Packs of gaunt gray wolves hunted down his foes, men said, and carrion crows spied for him and whispered secrets in his ear.......’ -Dunk the Lunk’s inner monologue

Bravo! Your post has summarized very well how you provide the kind of quality content that I love to support. I am bumping my donation up from 1$ to 3$. Just try to be weary of Patreon. In case they try to pull something again, maybe keep on the lookout for a secondary option for donations. (No perks needed for me)

It's been a good ASX year :) I just saw Dark, and it was cool but soooo confusing. Slightly frustrated with the lack of information toward the end--but the parts I understood were really cool. It's a perfect show for an ASX analysis.

A bunch of people have requested Dark.. I'll check it out (:
