Sad vibes all around, but Roddy v Ormund was a moment of joy amongst a savage scene

Zach Tabbush

What a shit end to a fantastic season of television

Kelly Theobald

Two things: I’M ALIIIIIVEEE!!! And fuck you too 😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣😂🤣 So… hmm. Idk about this finale, it felt a little weird to me lol. So you’re telling me Daemon and Corlys are retreating, despite having TWO DRAGONS present? Daemon isn’t just gonna get on Caraxes and end this shit?? And Ormund was killed by… Roddy the Ruin?! I mean, I love how he died, it was very entertaining (loved Roddy’s excitement at being killed by dragon fire), but it still left me feeling a little underwhelmed. Some thoughts… -loved the Aegon/Aemond scene; perfect, no notes -I expected them to turn up at Tumbleton but they didn’t? 🤨 -the actual battle felt off at times; Daemon fighting a random guy, I was bored watching his fight scenes; Hugh being a huge nothingburger; no big blowup or emotional payoff between Daeron and Ormund -so much buildup with Daeron for nothing to happen; I thought he would at the very least defy Ormund and break Tessarion’s chains and do something?? -however, all the Ulf stuff was amazing and hilarious. And Gwaine has been a highlight of the later season for me! (The “and fuck you too” was SO perfect) -Helaena’s suicide didn’t feel right to me 😕 she was so adamant about saving the baby and Jahaera. It just seemed like there were options. She could have taken a secret passageway (which they LITERALLY showed earlier in the season) to Dreamfyre and escaped. Or surely the news the Aegon was alive could have given her hope that he and Aemond could retake Kings Landing -Lastly, I expected something insane to happen with Rhaenyra, so I’m really underwhelmed that nothing happened lol Anyway, I love this show, and I did love this season! The beginning was amazing, we lost control a little halfway though, and I still feel like certain things aren’t linking up the way they should, but it’s still lots of fun. Thanks as always for such great content all season long 🙂🙂

Having just finished it, I'm... confused as to how I feel. I'll write out what I remember I guess. The Good: I love Tom Glynn-Carney Very interesting to seemingly make Alys a wife of Harren the Black Love Ulf's characterization Baela shows spine! Corlys, Gwayne and Daeron suing for peace was very nice, and somewhat believable (Corlys is crazy for seemingly offering to divest the Tyrells of the lord paramouncy of the Reach, if I got that right). Daemon rejecting it is also very in character as well. The Bad: Removing agency from Hugh. I heard the possibility of Vermithor going to bat for Silverwing, and didn't mind it much if Hugh was at least on the fence on betraying, but Hugh didn't know anything and now seems to be forced into the role of a betrayer. "proper fucking by the north" seemed a bit excessive, bordering on parody imo. The Alyn turnaround was crazy, breakneck speed. From loyal son to "your once and future lord of the tides", killing the high septon in what feels like less than a week. Rhaenyra telling everyone about the prophecy? I get that everyone thinks she's insane, but I don't like it being lowkey public knowledge now. The Confused: Rhaenyra... I mean obviously nowhere near S8 Dany levels, but still feels like her character took an extremely sharp turn this episode. Some of that is understandable with Aegon returning (saying "he is risen" is crazy). Combined with her character being wildly inconsistant (swinging between suing for peace and wanting Oldtown and Lannisport to burn), makes me a bit iffy on the heel turn here. Must be said that at least Emma D'arcy makes her very believable. Helaena... I wish Blood & Cheese trauma was a part of her reasons for doing what she did. Would have liked a more emotional connection for it. Mysaria... I guess I liked this turnaround? Shows that Rhaenyra wasn't completely taken in by her last episode. But still feels very very sudden.

Barristan Smellme

I really don't get how george said Helena apparently kills herself for no reason, the outline he saw must have been the barest thing. She had a whole season of suffering and pain

Phoebe Bird

Danny DeVito as Mushroom is genius

SnakeYikes

It says itll be later because HBO didnt give them a screener so I think they had to watch it live

SnakeYikes

I mean what is there for them todo at tumbleton still? If he gets on caraxes then the only option is burning the village... and its already burned by ulf. He also seems to be completely shook especially by the civilians being killed. Also theres the fact that we literally saw Caraxes flying off chasing silverwing. Also about Halaena I think her visions were her seeing the different events that couldve happened like her giving birth and the baby being held hostage especially since she thinks its a boy, her getting on dreamfyre but having to kill all the people to escape etc. Idk why you think Aegon being alive would give her hope? Him being dead was her only chance at ever having freedom and... hes a fucking horrible rapist who she has said before he only pays attention to her when hes drunk and wants to have sex.

Lucy Kerley

When you say daemon fighting a random guy - that was Bold Jon Roxton I believe?

julia

did we ever end up seeing the shot of helaena staring into the sky all angrily from the weeks ahead trailer? I was waiting for it all season

Kelly Theobald

(Lucy) Ohhh… I’ve definitely heard Schwift and Glidus say that name a bunch… and I have no idea who that is lol. I do think there is a lot that’s lost on casual show watchers, and this is one of them

Kelly Theobald

(SnakeYikes) It seems like there’s lots to do at Tumbleton—Ormund is dead but what about the Hightower army? They came to root them out but did they succeed? There doesn’t seem to be a clear answer on that. Not to mention Daeron. They know he’s still in there, so I’m surprised Daemon didn’t try to find him, or at least order his men to look. I see what you mean about him being in shock though—it still just felt like pieces were left on the table. I’m sure there’s lots to be said about the fact that this kinda wouldn’t have happened if Daemon had stayed on Caraxes lol Yeah, I’m probably being a little hasty about Helaena. What I meant about the hope thing was, if she knew Aegon was still alive, he would likely try to retake Kings Landing so there’s hope that she would at least get out of her current situation with Rhaenyra. But yeah, the visions… Idk, I guess despite how much development she had, it still somehow felt like a hard plot point to follow. But it’s good to get another perspective 🙂

Lucy Kerley

He was ormund’s right hand man. I couldn’t tell it was him for quite a while during the fight so casual viewer probably had a hard time too

Kelly Theobald

Ah, I see! That does make a little more sense now

Sim

The way that Daemon calls for Caraxes at the start of the battle reminds me of that scene in the film Troy when the Greek king calls for his champion to come and fight Achilles (where he shouts "BOAGRIUS!"). Ironically that film was written by David Benioff.

Alexei

Not giving schwift and glidus a screener seems like a pretty egregious oversight

Jenny of Coldstone Creamery

Going to allow myself to hold out hope for Mushroom appearing in S4. I think that would work to illustrate Rhaenyra falling into the deep end if she kind of replaces Mysaria with a randy fool.

Sean McCaughey

Is dragon time imminent or should we expect a more considered retrospective style dragon time in a few weeks?

Sim

fr I'm getting the shakes

Chris Sebastian

But what agency was removed from hugh? Unless you're referring to future book scenes in which case I'm not too worried since we have no clue how they will do it. Any number of added scenes can easily fix the lack of agency

I yelled when shift said “fifty season Animorphs TV show”. In a better timeline, this happened already, and the spinoff The Ellimist became the American Dr. Who.

I'm referring to both this season and future book scenes. Besides saying that I am very worried about how they will reconcile stuff, I won't actually go into book material since I don't want to accidentally spoil anyone, so I will refer to this season only. Well to start with, he's barely in this season. He's one of the most changed characters from the book last season (for the better, most agree) and the development he was given was great. This season he's basically done nothing but ask Rhaenyra for land, go to Tumbleton to try and get Cat out, and come back to Tumbleton for the battle and find Cat's body. He needed scenes, real scenes in which he shows his character. Scenes that don't involve setting up and commiting to fridging his wife for his development. He's very much like Addam on that account, though Addam had even less to do this season. So much so that I didn't think to even mention him in my original comment. They both have such great potential as characters, not just as viewpoints to show us different perspectives on the world, dragons, and other characters, but to shine in their own right. Just like Ulf shined. Perhaps removing agency is the wrong word to use to refer to how this season treated Hugh. I retain that it is the correct word for how it effects future events in my opinion - for which I won't criticize the show too harshly before I see season 4 for myself. But for this season maybe "negligence" is a better term.

Jack The Human

waiting for dragon time hoping its not like waiting for a season 2 finale 😳

Is it Dragon Time yet??? 🥺🥺🥺
