Alt Schwift X made a video ranting about Resident Evil! It's mostly about the new 2026 movie, but also discusses the old Milla Jovovich movies, and the video games. Spoilers abound! This is a quick fun bonus video, only on Patreon and Nebula.

Meanwhile, we're finishing a big Alt Shift X video about the Mad King play. (The Mad King was performed in Stratford this summer, and tells the story of the Harrenhal tournament and Robert's Rebellion). The video is a detailed summary and analysis, about 90 minutes long. This video required some creativity for the visuals -- including new commissioned artwork from Ertaç Altınöz! It's an in-depth look at a special, revelatory chapter of the ASOIAF series.

After the Mad King video, we'll finish our long-awaited Dune videos. "Faces of Dune" and "Fighters of Dune" will be quick to complete. "The Real Dune Part Two" video will take longer, and might not be finished before the "Dune Part Three" movie comes out. I would have liked to have finished these videos sooner, but I'm glad I took the time to deeply research Dune and Frank Herbert -- I want to do justice to this unique series.

The next monthly livestream will discuss George Martin's 1977 novel Dying of the Light. Dying of the Light is about heartbreak and hope, and it starkly reveals the tender soul from which ASOIAF grew.

I am also eager to complete the "Real Planet of the Apes" video. And A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms Season 2 will be here before we know it!

We've currently got a lot of different videos in-progress, and it's a bit discombobulating. I've also been grappling with a technical issue on YouTube's backend which threatened to demonetize Alt Shift X. I'm looking forward to solving this technical issue, completing these big epic videos, and getting more combobulated.

As ever, I'm grateful for your patience and support!

Bryan having to choose to cure his girlfriend rather than himself would have been a way better thematic and dramatic ending!

tapksa is tappy

I thought it was pretty much unsalvageable. There was some theme, the atmosphere was good until he leaves the farm house, gig economy setup was okay. I guess there was a Heart of Darkness structure somewhere in there. But that's still not a movie to even begin truly fixing. For one, I don't like that the theme happens through phone calls. It doesn't relate to the action, except maybe as his body starts changing. A kind of chestbuster would have been derivative but interesting: he is creating life and it scares him. That said, I do like the two protagonists fix. Alternatively, the themes of exploitation and self sacrifice would have been interesting too, building on the gig economy thing. He's caught in the middle, he gets bitten, he needs to save the world - the company says it's his responsibility now. He flips the script and dies to make the company own up to its responsibility - THAT'S his sacrifice. The extreme conditions are a trial of his exploitation, while his incompetence is humanising and humorous.
