Thoros of Myr (Patreon)

Am thinking of doing a video about Thoros of Myr. He's one of those minor characters with a really fascinating backstory that most people don't know about.
Thoros was trained as a red priest in Myr, though he was never much of a believer. He was eventually sent to Westeros, where he failed to convert Mad Aerys to the Red God, but later became friends with King Robert – "They were pease in a pod … both gluttons and sots". Thoros fought in the Greyjoy Rebellion, "scal[ing] the walls of Pyke with a flaming sword in hand". And in Book 1, he is sent by Ned Stark to execute Gregor Clegane, but ends up forming the outlaw Brotherhood Without Banners with Beric Dondarrion. When Beric is killed, Thoros resurrects him, rediscovers his faith, and becomes a profoundly changed man. By the end of Storm, Thoros serves the Brotherhood's brutal new leader, Lady Stoneheart, and now seems to doubt the justice of his cause:
"Justice.” Thoros smiled wanly. “I remember justice. It had a pleasant taste. Justice was what we were about when Beric led us, or so we told ourselves. We were king’s men, knights, and heroes … but some knights are dark and full of terror, my lady. War makes monsters of us all" (Brienne VIII, ASOS)
So there's a lot of cool content to discuss with Thoros – definitely worth a video some time (:
