I agree, Shift, Daemon is a POS. I am both surprised and impressed that the writers were willing to portray Rhaenyra as such a brat. It makes me think we might see her get quite dark later on. Something HOTD is missing, especially when compared to GOT and the books, is romance. I didn’t think Rhaenyra and Criston had much chemistry, and Viserys and Daemon’s interest in teenage girls makes it hard to root for their relationships. We’ll see if this changes at all later in the season.

I loved this episode!! Two points I want to make: I think Alicent is so great. The difference between her and her father is really striking. Like Otto manipulates Viserys to get what Otto wants, but Alicent “manipulates” him to do what Viserys himself wants. I love how she was supposed to convince him to name Aegon heir, but instead she convinced him to send aid to the Stepstones, which is what he really wanted (just like when she tried to get Viserys and Rhaenyra to talk to each other). Her meddling is all positive, and it’s incredibly refreshing 😂 I hope she doesn’t get backstabby and political. There’s something really nice about seeing a meek, kind, and non-flashy character do really well. Point two: When Daemon did the whole peace banner thing, I really thought Caraxes was going to burn everyone, *including Daemon* and that he was going to survive by pulling a Daenerys with the whole “fire cannot kill a dragon” thing, so I’m bummed that he just kind of dodged the flames. Like can you imagine him standing like the Night King with his arms out in the middle of all these flames while everyone else is burning around him. I still loved it. And honestly, idk if you’re watching Rings of Power, but (no spoilers, just opinions), ROP is so meh that it’s really making me appreciate how good HOTD actually is 💀

I think it's great! Viserys, Rhaenyra, and Daemon are really stealing the show, IMO, and that's among other great performances. This show is so well done and the casting is spot-on. I love it.
