Here it is! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FBEGuOPlDUE

I'm pretty happy with this video. It brings together a lot of fascinating threads from Game of Thrones history, weaving in some cool theories and speculation you might not have heard before. Some aspects of it were a little rushed - in hindsight, the script could have been edited down a bit tighter, and the conclusion could have been stronger... But overall, fairly happy with this one.

Keep in mind, this video focuses on the Valyrian swords themselves, not so much on the nature and properties of Valyrian steel. That's a subject for a future video (:

Cheers!

Woo-hoo! Cheers!

Very good video! It does well in connecting several houses, historical events and theories into one video.

Another great video, thanks. Sunday morning coffee and steel , huzzah. I have trouble believing that one sword could be reformed into two, practically speaking, but I'll roll with the books. I didn't catch it was Gendry's former Master, that's amazing. Quibble, Jeor Mormont didn't take Longclaw to the wall. I care only because it used to bother me that someone as noble as the Old Bear would keep the family sword when the vow renounces all titles, claims, etc. It turns out his sister (Lyanna's mom) brought it to the wall after Jorah shamed himself and no longer was worthy to wield it. Jeor supposedly 'forgot about it' which seems unlikely but less vow-breaking. Considering Maege wasn't that fond of her brother (supposedly) and the house is small, it was probably a good call.

You've made a lot of Harry Potter references lately. I highly approve :)

Great video! I thought Needle was made from Valyrian steel as well? Please let me know if I'm mistaken. Keep up the great work! And love Alt Scwhift X reading GOT Abridged. Insightful, yet funny!

Alt Shift X

Yeah apparently 'reforging' Valyrian steel doesn't make much sense from a metallurgical point of view, especially the way it was portrayed in the show - but I'm happy to chalk it up to *magic*~~ Good point about Longclaw, that's my mistake. Seems weird to me that Maege would deliver the sword to Jeor at the Wall, though - surely the 'she-bears' could make good use of it... But hey, I guess Jonny Protagonist has to get his sword some way or another (:

Alt Shift X

Cheers Kelly - you must be listening to Schwift!

Persephone Jones

I stand by it being necessary to justify it being at the Wall yet still preserve Jeor's honor. Otherwise he could have just taken it as you thought. Oh no, you aren't reducing the kickass she-bears to a plot device ha ha ha. We needed more Maege-bonding. She is one of the few who witnessed Robb's will. That fits in with my other theories. A different video!

Oh yeah I think they like axes. Something about the sigil, or unofficial one, a woman with a baby in one arm, axe in the other? I love them.

Kelly Theobald

I am indeed! I've gotten so used to them, I don't like Tuesdays and Thursdays when there's no Schwift ;)

What an info dump! This video gave me mad feels about Jon Snow and the war to come. But the DOD, Bloodraven, and the swords - love that stuff. And I had no idea Littlefinger still had the dagger on him...Sansa using that - OMG I can't.

Alt Shift X

I do hope we see a lot more of the she-bears in Winds (:

I have some trouble believing it was Tobho Mott who reforged Ice into WW and OK. In the series Tywin has invited a blacksmith from Volantis, the best apparently, to King's Landing. Perhaps this was a changed for the series or so.

Alt Shift X

Yeah it's different in the books. Kinda weird, honestly, that the show introduced Tobho Mott in Season 1, but didn't use him for the reforging of Ice
