So we are at the point I can say it~ This arc has a lot of references but the BIG 4 are~ Cabaret, Rocky Horror Picture Show, Dante's Inferno. And just General Hell!~ Also fun Fact Alicia~ Inazuma was a hint at Ivankiv's power because off screen Inazuma has Ivankov change their gender constantly~ Also both Ivankov and Inazuma are gender fluid and throughout use all pronouns. (Though most of time go by they/he or what their body's currently are at that moment).

Forcing people to be someone they're not and trying to gaslight them into thinking it's true feels like those gay conversion camps in reverse with added body modification. I've never liked Ivankov their like anti Bon Clay to me one is kind, accepting secure with who they are and accept others for who they are, go above and beyond and the other is Ivankov.

I love Ivan as a character but maaaaan, the irony of this part showing up during pride month, and Ivan forcing someone to change genders after doing it to the dudes father destroyed his family and forced him into piracy? Biggest L move a character could make during the worst time possible lol And lets not pretend you don't use real world morality during like 99% of the rest of the show, Ivan don't get a pass cuz hes queer and its pride, he did a fucked up thing end of story. ivankow looks like a sweet transvestite. do you think he'd enjoy a trip to transsexual transilvania? i'm sure he'd get along great with dr frank-n-furter. but yeah, as much as i like ivankov, and as others pointed out, him forcefully changing that one dude's gender, clearly against his will, is a very iffy move to pull. pretty sure it wasn't meant as such, but it paints ivankov in a very negative light.

I wouldn't take that thing about gear 2 "eating away Luffy's life" too literally. It comes from Lucci's first impression of the technique, which Luffy was not yet used to, so by no means it's an unbreakable law. I would consider it as dangerous as smoking, for example. Bad lifestyle, that indeed might shorten your life span, but it's not like you lose a fixed amount with each use.

Forcing someone to change sex being bad aside, Ivankov and everything around Ivankov is why I can't stay sour at One Piece for Sanji sometimes coming off as transphobic (don't @ me, he can come off as transphobic even if the characters he's reacting to aren't "technically trans"). On the whole, the LGBTQIA+ characters in One Piece are some of the best friends the Strawhats can have, and that's pretty rad.

Ivan did force that guy to transform but he was an enemy. Ivan could have probably killed him instead but decided to open his mind a little. If she comes back saying it wasn't for her then I have no doubt Ivan would change her back.

Alicia, You getting all the genders wrong throughout this episode just seems appropriate :P Also, Yeah, no. Transitioning someone against their will is not a good look. I will say though, the way the scene plays out, you could argue it helps establish Ivan as one of the many rough and ruthless pirates out there. Because to be honest, our Straw Hat crew is definitely odd in their lack of any of that ^^' So yeah, transitioning an enemy trying to kill you is ROUGH. But appropriate.

I don't really care about Pride Month or the LGBT+ community(they can live how they want) but I do like Ivankov. I care about the individual characters. One Piece is a story full of quirky characters that you fall in love with so it's easy to accept them for who they are in this story. Reality is a lot more difficult

so the thing about gear two shortening his life. we heard about that from one dude who isn't a doctor and is only thinking of the human body outside of being rubber. sure he said he could only do it with a rubber body but he might have still been thinking in normal terms. I'm still of the mind that gear two doesn't shorten his life.
